The Tastiest Whole Grain Sugar Free Banana Bread ~ Great Recipe for Diabetics

It is best to put your sugar-free zucchini bread in a resealable Ziploc bag since it is a quick bread that dries out fast if you put it in the oven for too long. Please place it in a pantry and make sure that it is away from direct sunlight. You can also freeze it however, ensure that you cool it properly first. Do not slice the bread before freezing since it keeps its moisture.

Afterward, please put it in a gallon-size Ziploc container, as much as possible, do not leave any air inside and seal properly. In thawing it, it would take about 3 to 4 hours. But do not worry even if it had been frozen and thawed, it could still retain its flavor like when freshly baked. Then after that, you can toast for a minute and enjoy the warmth and aromas, all making you hungrier to eat that delicious sugar-free zucchini bread.

What To Look For When Shopping

According to D’Angelo, the word “whole” is a great place to start, such as “whole-wheat flour” or another grain like “whole oats.”

The next thing you can look for is how many carbohydrates are in each serving, as well as the added sugars.

“Everyone is different in terms of how many carbs they need, so talk to a nutritionist or dietitian about your specific amount,” says D’Angelo. “The key here is to get the right amount of carbohydrates because it will improve blood sugar management. And of course, check and see if there are any added sugars to the whole wheat bread that you’re choosing. Some brands use added sugars to help make the bread taste better, but be careful with too much of it as it can spike blood sugar levels.”

How To Choose The Right Quality Of Zucchini

Ideally, you want to choose small to medium zucchini because smaller and younger zucchini is less watery, less seedy than the giant types, and rich in flavor. Hence, small to medium zucchini is suitable for baking. When choosing zucchinis, make sure to check the zucchini if it has shiny and smooth skin. And refrain from picking bruised or dented zucchini. Likewise, small zucchinis add texture, flavor and give more peel to your batter. Not to mention, it provides luscious green flecks to the bread.

Can You Freeze This Bread

Absolutely! I like to pre-slice my loaves and pop each slice straight from the freezer in the toaster. This is meal planning the German way – we were brought up on bread and I just NEED to know I can have a sandwich when I feel like one!

The sunflower seeds are optional. Any other seeds would work just as well – sesame seeds or pumpkin seeds, for example.

Next time I make this bread, I want to try to separate the eggs and whisk the egg whites, then fold them in last. This way you may get an even fluffier and lighter result.

How To Make Bread Part Of Your Meal Plan

When deciding which breads to buy and which to avoid, make sure you read the nutritional information thoroughly.

The American Diabetes Association recommends choosing whole grain bread or 100 percent whole wheat bread instead of white bread. White bread is made from highly processed white flour and added sugar.

Here are some delicious and healthy breads to try:

  • Josephs Flax, Oat Bran and Wheat Pita Bread. You cant have an authentic Mediterranean-style meal without pita pockets. This low-carb version has 8 grams of carbs and 4 grams of fiber per pita.
  • Food for Lifes 7 Sprouted Grains Bread. High in protein and fiber, this flourless bread has 15 grams of carbs and 3 grams of fiber per slice. Flavorful and filling, its perfect for breakfast, especially when toasted and served with poached eggs and berries. Other Food for Life breads and products are also good choices.
  • Alvarado St. Bakerys Sprouted Wheat Multi-Grain Bread. This dense, rich bread gets its slight sweetness from molasses and honey. Despite the indulgent taste, it still packs a nutritional punch. Each slice has 15 grams of carbs, 5 grams of protein, and 2 grams of fiber.

Breads that are homemade, available at farmers markets, and made at local bakeries may be higher in fiber and lower in sugar. They will likely be less processed than those on grocery store shelves.

Processed foods are usually digested and absorbed faster. This can raise blood sugar levels.

Tips And Tricks To Make An Amazing Sugar

If you want a herbal flavor to your bread, you can use olive oil. To achieve a neutral flavor, use vegetable oil. If youre going to make it low-fat, you can replace oil with apple sauce. You can freeze sugar-free zucchini bread by letting the bread cool thoroughly first and then ensuring that you feel no warmth left when you touch it. Afterward, wrap in cling wrap and double wrap in foil. If you want it sealed entirely, go ahead and put it into a heavy-duty Ziploc freezer bag. Likewise, you can wrap it and freeze it in individual slices. Freezing it could last up to three months.

In grating zucchini, the best way to do it is through a food processor fitted with shredding disks because the shreds will become excellent, plump, and dry. On the other hand, if you grate using a box grater, you can achieve a wetter and more satisfactory outcome. Nevertheless, make sure to scrape the zucchini before mixing it with the batter. Also, do not peel the zucchini when making zucchini bread since the skin contains the most nutrients.

What Bread Is Good For Diabetes

Bread is one of the most commonly misunderstood foods for people with diabetes. Most people with diabetes assume they should not eat bread. This is not true!

As I discuss often, you can absolutely enjoy bread. When you eat bread, choose a type higher in:

  • Plant based fat
  • Fiber
  • Protein

Then, you should also combine it with other foods that offer fat, fiber, and protein: nut butter, avocado, eggs, etc.

Easy Whole Wheat Bread

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread (sugar & oil free)

Easy whole wheat bread is something Ive been searching for, for a long time now. I loooove bread, especially fresh baked bread, hot out of the oven, warm and soft on the inside, with a nice hard crust on the outside. Its the best!

Ive been discouraged from trying to bake my own though, because it seems all the recipes that exist out there have oil, sugar, or other ingredients I dont cook with. Or, theyre incredibly complex recipes with lots of steps, wait times, complicated rising instructions, etc. I wanted something simple, healthy, and easy to make, but wasnt having any luck in my search.

That is, until now! It took a lot of research, but I think Ive finally found a way to bake a homemade bread loaf that is easy AND healthy! No oil, no sugar, no complicated steps, no long wait times. This will forever be my new go-to easy whole wheat bread recipe!

You can enjoy this bread with nut butters or fruit jams on top. You could also go the savory route and spread avocado or hummus on it. You can dip it in soup, make sandwiches out of it, toast crostinis or bruschetta with it you name it. But anyways, lets get on with the recipe!

How To Check Food Labels

The bread you choose needs to support your overall health goals, but be aware that some breads contain unhealthy additives. There also may be some tradeoffs.

For example, if you’re looking for a bread that’s strictly low-calorie and low in carbohydrates , you can find these options. The problem is that there may be artificial ingredients, flavorings, and other additives in them too.

Whatever type of bread you’re looking for, you need to make an informed decision. Reading the package label can help you do that. You’ll want to look at the calorie, carb, fiber, fat, and sodium contents. You’ll also want to make sure your bread is whole grain.

If you aren’t sure which loaf is the best for you, ask your dietitian or certified diabetes educator.

Sugar Free Whole Wheat Bread Recipe

One of the more shocking things I learned as I started my Sugar Free journey was that is is pretty much impossible to buy bread without added sugar or HFCS. I never thought of bread as sweet or needing to be sweet to be good but then I learned that the yeast needs sugar in order to rise. So I was in a bit of a quandary, I want bread but not sugar. Whats a guy to do? Fortunately my answer came in the back of one of the first books I read to start me on this journey, Year Without Sugar. I dont have a mixer so it was a bit tricky to do.

I had to modify the original recipe somewhat for taste and because the original cook time given wasnt nearly enough. This makes a very tasty wheat bread with a crunchy crust and soft middle. Its a bit dry-ish but since i almost always eat my sandwiches with a little mustard, it doesnt bother me. I would recommend you get a bread slicer guide if you dont already have one. This was one of the first recipes to appear on my site when I was focused primarily on avoiding Fructose, thats why the Barley Malt Syrup and Dextrose are in the ingredients when they are both sugars, they just dont contain any fructose. So technically this is a Fructose Free Wheat Bread Recipe, not necessarily sugar free. Im sorry about any confusion.

Whole Grain Bread And Your Blood Sugar

If you’re wanting to lower or manage your blood sugar, it’s helpful to limit your consumption of refined and processed carbohydrates like baked goods and white bread, for example.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

When you eat heavier amounts of processed carbohydrates, your body quickly breaks them down into glucose, which enters your blood and can raise your blood sugar levels.

This can pose a problem for those with diabetes or prediabetes because their bodies struggle to produce insulin properly, and insulin is what helps absorb the glucose from your bloodstream.

Thankfully, high-fiber whole grains like oats and barley can actually help improve blood glucose levels because fiber isn’t absorbed by your body and doesn’t create a blood sugar spike.

Buying whole-grain bread that is high in these fibrous ingredients and low in refined sugars can be a great way for you to manage your blood sugar. But what should you look for when you’re at the grocery store to make sure you get the best kind?

I think we’re forgetting that there are nutritional benefits in these grain products because we have been a society based off of fear of carbohydrates, and that bread is going to make us gain weight. Everyday Low Carb Bread Recipe

Easy Simple Whole Wheat Bread – Ready in 90 Minutes

August 17, 2018· Updated on June 6, 2022 By Katrin Nürnberger

This chia almond low carb bread recipe has a texture just like whole-wheat bread and can be baked as a loaf or as rolls. A perfect everyday grain free bread, this easy recipe is gluten free, Keto and delicious with sweet and savoury toppings. No eggy taste!

Bread. Do you love it as much as I do?

When I first went low carb, I thought I had to give up bread forever as grains are off the menu. Wheat and other grains contain easy-to-digest carbohydrates that the body converts into glucose . Eating grains provides a short term energy boost and will spike your blood sugar – whether you choose a white loaf or a “healthy” whole-wheat one. Shortly after, your insulin levels plummet and you’ll feel hungry again.

As Dr Willam Davis writes, 2 slices of whole-wheat bread raise blood sugar higher than 6 teaspoons of table sugar. Read his book Wheat Belly, which explains in detail why we should ditch wheat and other grains – it’s an eye-opener.

So much for the bad news. The good news is, there are plenty of bread recipes using grain free flours. These will not spike your insulin levels the way regular bread does AND they taste absolutely delicious.

I am so happy with this almond flour bread – it might just be my all time favourite. The texture reminds me of a whole-wheat bread. It’s soft, with a tender crunch in the crust.

The culprit with this bread? The sodium.

“Pepperidge Farm Sourdough bread has 10% of your daily sodium allowance in a single slice. If you’re having a sandwich, that’s 20% right there!” Ward says. ” sourdough, people mistakenly believe that because it’s a fermented food, it’s better for your gut, but that’s not true because baking the bread kills the beneficial bacteria.”
