Stouffers Chicken Pot Pie Featured A Crisper Panel At The Top Of Its Tray
We had high hopes for this next pie as it featured a metallic crisper panel at the top of its box. It was a good size and the second most expensive at $US3.99.
Despite having the crisper panel, it was still cold in the middle after we pulled it out following the six-and-a-half minute cooking and two-minute standing time directions. Once it was popped in for another two minutes, it was ready to go and it was worth the wait.
It came out looking the best by far and the crust was also by far the best you could literally taste the butter they tucked into the dough.
The chicken was great, but it did feature fewer veggies than some of the other pies, in our opinion. The gravy was a bit runnier than the Boston Market gravy and we also did not find it super flavorful, although it was pretty welcome with the richness of the crust.

Stouffers Chicken Pot Pie Bites A Poor Effort
This new product from Stouffers sounds like the stuff of dreams. Take the comforting charms of the classic pot pie, but remake it into bite size poppable pieces. Who wouldnt love that? Inside this cardboard package youll find a non-resealable plastic bag and seventeen frozen pot pie bites.
Cooking: You can bake or air fry these, cooking from frozen. Given their small size they cook up a lot quicker than a full size pot pie.
Taste and texture: Any initial excitement you might have is immediately deflated by inspection of the exterior shell. Its nothing like the pastry found on any manner of pot pies, flaky and rich and buttery. Its more of a coating and batter than pastry.
Things get worse inside. The filling quickly congeals into an unappealing sludge. Its thick and pasty and as it cools, it transitions from interesting to unpleasant. Theres minimal in the way of identifiable vegetable and chicken pieces and the bites are very salty.
Overall: I really didnt enjoy this product at all, in fact its hard to point to any positives other than the concept in general. To promise the allure of a pot pie, then not even come through on the pastry, is a huge fumble. The bites could be saved by a stellar filling, but the contents here are subpar, and frankly unappetizing. The concept is great, but the execution needs to go back to the drawing board.
Should I Thaw Frozen Pot Pie Before Baking
No, dont do that. It is meant to cook from rock hard frozen to tender and warm. If you defrost it first the crust will have a different texture, and not a good one. It will get kinda mushy, especially on the underside.

In order to get it just right it is best to start out at a lower temperature and then increase it for a few minutes at the end.
Another step you shouldnt leave out is to not open the basket once the timer goes off. Leave it inside, closed, for 5 minutes. This will allow the middle to continue warming up completely.
Time needed: 21 minutes.
Frozen Pot Pie in Air Fryer
Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F for 5 minutes. This timing is for 10 oz. pot pies cooked 1 or 2 at a time. Larger ones will take longer.
Put 1-2 frozen pot pie into basket and allow to air fry for 15 minutes.Then increase temperature to 380 degrees F for 6 minutes. Leave in closed air fryer basket for 5 minutes once it is done to continue warming the middle.
Be careful when you are lifting these babies out. Remember that the pie tins are aluminum so they get hot in that high heat. Put on to a small plate when serving and remind your kids to not touch the underside.

Because so many listed the microwave as the default cooking method, we decided to microwave them all, just to be fair.

Upuntil testing these frozen chicken pot pies for you in the air fryer, it wasthe first time that I had eaten frozen chicken pot pies in years.
I love chicken pot pie, but I love the excitement of making it. I love making my air fryer pie crust, I love gathering the ingredients and cooking them, ready to stuff inside of my chicken pot pie and it brings me great pleasure to see the finished air fryer chicken pot pie.
But we have had a few requests recently for frozen chicken pot pie in the air fryer and thought it would be fun to go back to my teenage years and eat some!
The last time I had frozen chicken pot pie, I was sweet 17. It was the year 1999 and I was living on my own for the first time.
I say on my own, well technically I lived in a hostel. The grocery budget I had was £5 a week so on todays money that was about $8 and the only thing that I could find that came in on budget was frozen chicken pot pies.
I could have one each day for dinner with some canned peas and it was great. It was easy for when youre at that point in your life when you cant cook and easy for when youre on your own.
I thought they were delicious and would have a different flavour each week. Though my favourite was chicken and vegetable.
