  • The original recipe called for green beans, but peas are now considered Whole30 compliant and they are more traditional to pot pie flavors. Both are delicious in the soup.

  • Store: Store leftover chicken mixture in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Store puff pastry rounds in a sealed bag in the fridge as well.
  • Reheat: Chicken and vegetable mixture can be reheated in the microwave or in a pan on the stovetop. Add broth or water AFTER it’s heated through if it’s too thick. Warm puff pastry rounds in a 300°F oven until warm and crisp.
  • Freeze: I do not suggest freezing this meal. With the addition of the milk in the roux, it is likely that when it thaws, the texture will grainy and separated.

First, sprinkle your clean surface lightly with all-purpose flour.

Unfold the thawed puff pastry, then carefully roll it out to a 2mm thick square with a rolling pin.

With a knife, cut out a piece of puff pastry thats a bit bigger than your containers top.

Then, cut a small cross in the middle of the puff pastry.

Fill the container with chicken pot pie filling .

Layer the puff pastry on top of the container and seal the edges by gently pressing the puff pastry with a fork.

Brush beaten egg evenly on the puff pastry with a basting brush. This gives them a golden brown color out of the oven.

Sprinkle some salt on the puff pastry to season it a bit.

Its so easy to freeze pot pie and so nice to be able to grab something homemade for an easy freezer meal. Make the recipe as directed, stopping just short of baking the dish after topping it with the pie crust. Just make sure the dish you use is freezer safe, or use these foil pot pie pans . Double wrap the pot pie tightly with foil and pop it in the freezer for up to 3 months.

To bake the pot pie from frozen, pop it into a preheated 400F oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for approximately another 30 minutes, or until the filling is hot and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.

    It all happened when I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner one day. I didnt have anything thawed out in the middle of the afternoon so I knew I had to do something with my trusty Instant pot and pressure cook something for dinner. I was really craving some comfort food so I decided to give my chicken pot pie with potatoes recipe a try in my instant pot. It was a huge success!

    I started with frozen chicken breasts and I was amazed at how quickly the instant pot cooked them up! The chicken was cooked all of the way through and was tender enough to be shredded with two forks! As a general rule, frozen chicken breasts will take 25 minutes to cook in the pressure cooker, where thawed chicken usually only takes about 15-20 minutes.

    Make Dump And Start Chicken Pot Pie Soup

    The recipe includes sautéing the veggies before adding the rest of the ingredients and pressure cooking.

    To save on time, you can simply dump the ingredients into the pot and top the pot with with chicken broth. Pressure cook the soup for 12 minutes and allow a 10 minute natural release. Its really simple to make this cozy and delicious chicken pot pie soup in the Instant Pot.

    How To Make Instant Pot Chicken Pot Pie

    First, add chicken broth, minced onion, diced potatoes and petite baby carrots to the Instant Pot liner.

    Season with salt and pepper.

    Lay 6 fresh, uncooked chicken tenders on top of the veggies and broth.

    If you do not have chicken tenders, cut 2 chicken breast into this strips, about 1/2-1 inch thick.

    Cook on Manual HIGH for 3 minutes, NPR for 6 minutes.

    Remove the chicken from the Instant Pot and shred. I like to use my electric mixer to shred the chicken! So fast and so easy!

    Shred the chicken and set aside.

    Add frozen peas to the Instant Pot and stir. Adding the peas frozen is extremely important!

    Adding the frozen peas will cool the sauce down just enough to add milk in the next step without the milk curdling.

    Pour in the milk and stir to combine. Turn the Instant Pot onto saute.

    While the Instant Pot is heating everything back up to a boil, make a paste with room temperature butter and flour.

    Once the Instant Pot is boiling, stir in the butter and flour paste to thicken the sauce.

    Add in the shredded chicken- you are ready to serve!!
