Founded by Ryan Jones in 2013, Salty Croc is named after his wifes favorite animal, the saltwater crocodile. An expat of Vancouver free-to-play game development, Ryan moved to Ontario and began solo work on the studios first game, Pie in the Sky. In early 2014, Ryan teamed up with Nathan Langdon, an illustration grad of Sheridan College, who took on the role of the studios artist. Work took place in borrowed cubicles tucked into the back corner of a completely different business, itself part of a desolate office park in the middle of nowhere, where it continues to this day.

As Simple As It Could Be
Pie in the Sky sets in a near future that could be imagined by any 1980s people. I dont actually know how to state the theme thats taken by Salty Croc, but presumably, I think the theme is a futuristic vintage theme. So you can expect a vintage 80s cars and buildings, but at the same time, using anti-gravity system because well they need to be floating if they want to be in the space right?
In Pie in the Sky, you will become the sole proprietorship of pizza delivery service business. As a sole proprietor, you obviously need to handle all the stuffs, from the kitchen, until the delivery system.
Lets start from the kitchen first. Inside the kitchen, youd be able to construct your own futuristic pizza with many toppings. Of course as weird as the toppings of the future could be, these toppings would also determine how well your sales could be.
From giving your pizza your own name, you can choose the crusts of your pizza, from the normal classic crust, you can even choose laser grid crust to give the tongue some extra texture.
Beside the crust, you can also choose the sauce, cheese, meats, veggies, and my favourite weird toppings called questionables and megas. These last two toppings are the weirdest toppings available in Pie in the Sky.
From the toppings, lets move to the delivery service. There are upgrades available for you to smoothly deliver all the orders. These upgrades are essential to your delivery journey, because your journey wont be easy for sure.

Food Delivery By Drone: Literally A Pie In The Sky Idea
A few weeks back, we held our second formal hackathon, where DoorDash engineers tackled projects like a tool to improve customer service communication, a lightweight recommendation engine, and an employee name game.
Oh, and we also crashed some drones.
As a technology company focused on delivery, weve always been fascinated with different ways to get goods from point A to point B, whether it be by foot, bike, car or quadcopter. So we used the hackathon as a chance to roll up our sleeves and figure out whether drone delivery was actually feasible.
We tested out two different drones for the hackathon: an off the shelf X8+ from 3D Robotics and a prototype drone from a drone delivery startup. We had to modify the body of the X8+ by adding a delivery payload to the bottom of the copter while attaching a GoPro to capture the flight. Meanwhile, since the prototype drone was built with deliveries in mind, it already had a pretty sweet dispatch controlled auto-grasping mechanism built in that allowed for super simple payload pickup and dropoff capabilities.
After a day of flights and a few crash landings we came away with a much better understanding of the opportunities for drone deliveries. While its clear that were still a long way off from actually delivering food with drones, we were impressed with how much we could learn in such a short time span.

Drone delivery to consumers once seemed like pie in the sky. Good news: Drones now deliver pie from the sky. Unfortunately, this service only flies to some fjords near Reykjavik during the relatively placid summer months, and the only available pie flavor, Im told, is rhubarb. To be fair, a wide assortment of other food choices is available for drone delivery from AHA, Icelands largest e-commerce website, which in 2017 began delivering pies, burgers, beer, pizza, snacks and such via drones supplied by Tel Aviv, Israel-based Flytrex corporation.
Food isnt the only thing coming from the skies. Last October, drones delivered non-prescription drugs and gift items to customers in Christiansburg, Virginia, through a consortium whose members include drone development company Wing , FedEx Express and Walgreens. Just days later, in November, United Parcel Services Flight Forward drone division and San Francisco-based drone manufacturer and delivery company Matternet flew prescriptions from a CVS store in Cary, North Carolina, to nearby customers too sick to travel to the pharmacy. A few kilometers away, in Raleigh, North Carolina, lifesaving blood and medical supplies now routinely wing their way across the campus of WakeMed Hospital. Drone delivery services have also sprouted up in Australia, China, Finland, Ghana, Rwanda, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

For many of us, the idea of a swarm of drones buzzing overhead, delivering everything from sushi to groceries to phone cases still seems like pie in the sky. Indeed, the prospect of packages dropping on our heads or errant drones smashing into our homes, cars, or even commercial jets, are the reasons why strict regulations continue to remain in place throughout the world, holding back, to some extent, the burgeoning drone delivery industry
But that probably wont last long. Thats because consumers have a swiftly growing appetite for faster and faster delivery after all, it only takes the touch of a button to order an item, why shouldnt delivery be equally instantaneous? Good Pizza lots of great topping options! Tried the portobello mushroom gourmet pizza with sundried tomato instead of the prescribed red pepper plus a basic cheese pizza and a classic pepperoni mushroom. The dough had a crispy crust with baked on cheese and a nice…chewiness but not too thick overall. The portobello pizza was delightfully garlicky and earthy. Having roasted portobello was a nice touch and the spinach feta and greens balanced well especially with the customization of bright sundries tomato. I love olives but they were probably a bit much on this combo especially because overall all the pizzas were a bit on the salty side though not quite over salted. Now the negatives which were service related. First their website advertised 15% off on the first online order, but the code wouldnt work. Second there was a 10% Covid service charge for pick up takeout which I could maybe understand if it was a typical dine-in restaurant with food that required special packaging, but its a pizza place which is literally the original take-our food. If its due to ingredient increases then just raise the price. Third we requested olives on only half but got them on the whole pizza. None of these were enough to ruin the meal or probably even keep us from ordering again but pretty annoying.More
