Trader Joes Mochi Cake Mix Add Ins

Trader Joeâs Mochi Cake Mix Review!

In 2018, mochi cake mix was introduced as an add-in option for the popular grocery store chain Trader Joes. The mochi add-in is a small, round cake made with rice flour and water that has been steamed or boiled.

It is then filled with a sweet filling such as red bean paste or chocolate and rolled in a light coating of powdered sugar. The mochi cake mix add-in is available in three different flavors: original, chocolate, and green tea.

The original flavor is made with glutinous rice flour, while the chocolate and green tea flavors are made with non-glutinous rice flour. All three flavors are dairy-free and vegan. To make the mochi cakes, simply follow the directions on the box of cake mix, adding the desired amount of mochi balls to the batter before baking.

Mochi Strawberry Ice Cream

If millennial pink was a dessert, it would be the Trader Joes Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream. In addition to being really, really, ridiculously good looking, the strawberry ice cream in the center has a refreshingly natural flavor.

Weve been trying to add more fruits to our breakfast menu, and we think we just found our solution.

The texture is amazing! Think of mochi but much more decadent. Pairing the cake with the peanut butter frosting works but the frosting is a bit on the sweet side for me. But overall YES! Its the desert I didnt know I needed

This was easy to make and fun to eat! A little also goes a long way, and I didnt add the frosting because most people I know who tried it said it was too sweet and that it was better without it. I made a mostly vegan version and it came out really well. Basically like a mochi brownie. Very mochi-like texture, and as long as you got a piece with a good amount of the chocolate chips in it, pretty chocolatey!

I had to bake it for about 10 minutes longer than the box said, but maybe that was because of the alternative butter/egg stuff I used in mine. Either way, I would keep an eye on it and test it with a fork before assuming its done.

We Tried Trader Joes Chocolate Mochi Cake

Trader Joes took the hint when lots of people doctored up their Mochi Cake Mix last year with cocoa. Its something locals in Hawaii, and Japanese / Japanese Americans have made for decades. Now, TJs is back with Trader Joes Chocolate Mochi Cake Mix with Peanut Butter Frosting. Gluten-free friends, you are gonna be so happy.

It comes with a packet of cake mix and a bag of peanut butter powder frosting you mix with a softened stick of butter.

A couple of folks on Reddit mentioned the cake pictured on the box looked a little dry. But baked for 42 minutes , mine came out just fine. Just like the cake last year, its got a little bit of chew, but its not as chewy as from scratch. I like that it makes an 8×8 pan. .

I gotta say, the peanut butter frosting was overkill for me. Its very sweet and overpowers everything. I even added a little bit of salt to balance it out. On its own, the cake makes a nice little snack . There were a few little chunks of chocolate in it, but you could probably get away with adding some mini chocolate chips to bump up the chocolate flavor.

Would I buy Trader Joes Chocolate Mochi Cake Mix again? Yep. Until I figure out how to make a smaller batch from scratch.

As always, if you wanna have a go, Just Jenns Chocolate Mochi Cake recipe is a good place to start.

Baking And Reviewing The Trader Joes Hawaiian Mochi Cake

    Trader Joe

PermalinkThis seasonal item is a must-have for those who like light, subtle flavors and chewy textures.

As I walked through the aisles of Trader Joes recently, a unique item caught my eye. The box was labeled mochi cake mix and described as a Hawaiian-inspired cake with a chewy mochi texture. The picture of this golden brown cake instantly caught my attention, and I eagerly put one in my cart. When I arrived home, I got to work right away.

I have a history of throwing myself into ambitious baking projects, most of which I end up regretting. Hours into prep, I often find myself contemplating my life choices. Luckily for me, the prep for this mochi cake was simple and did not lead to an existential crisis.

All I had to do was gather one cup of room temperature water, two large beaten eggs, four tablespoons of melted butter and an 8×8 greased baking pan. In a mere 10 minutes, I was able to preheat my oven to 350 degrees and stir the eggs, butter and water into the cake mix.

The ingredients blended together quickly and easily. I didnt encounter the typical struggles of making cake batter like spraining my wrists while mixing the stiff batter or finding lumps of cake mix that refuse to dissolve even after 15 minutes of vigorous stirring.

After waiting 45-50 minutes, I took the buttery disaster out of the oven. Because my cake was drowning in butter, I had to drain the butter into the sink.

The cake is not overly sweet and has a hint of coconut flavor to it, as it contains coconut milk .
