Panera Bread, which has had success with its Coffee Club subscription service introduced in February 2020, is now launching its Unlimited Sip Club. For $10.99 a month plus tax, the Unlimited Sip Club offers unlimited self-service beverages at any Paneras, which includes hot and iced coffee, hot and iced teas, lemonade, Pepsi-Cola fountain beverages including Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist, and its own Charged Lemonades.
A coffee subscription program at Paneras is bringing in new customers and adding to what customers buy, a win/win for the fast-casual chain.
When Paneras Coffee Club launched in February 2020, the Coffee Club cost $8.99 monthly. By the end of 2021, Paneras Coffee Club had grown to 600,000 subscribers, of which 300,000 were paying .
Panera used to be owned by its stockholders, but in 2017, JAB Holding Company, a German-owned conglomerate, acquired the company for $7.5 billion and took it private. It owns a slew of restaurant brands, including Krispy Kreme, Caribou Coffee, Pret a Manger and Peets Coffee.
The impetus for launching the coffee subscription program stemmed from Paneras goal of making good coffee accessible to everyone. Why should premium coffee be so expensive? noted Niren Chaudhary, Paneras CEO, who is based in Boston, Mass.

Panera knows what they are doing with this promotion. Here is what happened while I was at their restaurant:
- I tipped the staff $1 for my free cup of coffee
- I ended up ordering something for lunch
- I thought to myself, I need to come here more often!

In addition, Panera probably adds users like me to their phone/email newsletters, which will help them increase sales over time. Once the 3 months has passed, there will probably be a large number people who dont show up at all and still pay the $9 per month.
For me, Ill most likely get a good amount of coffee each month because I have a Panera close to my house. I also enjoy working from different places to break up the monotony in my day. Panera Bread Baked Potato Soup Copycat is the homemade version of the famous Baked Potato Soup that so many love. On a cold winter day, when I run crazy to do all the holiday shopping, there is nothing better than popping into a Panera Bread for some soul-warming meal.
