How To Prepare Rhubarb For Pie
Rhubarb famously has poisonous leaves. To prepare for cooking, remove any leaves and the bottom end of the stalk. Rinse well to remove dirt, using a vegetable scrubber if needed. Pat dry. Pare away any blemishes or bruises. Slice into thin 1/4 1/2 pieces. Cut any very thick stalks in half vertically before slicing.
At this point you can use the rhubarb immediately, or you can freeze the rhubarb for later use. To freeze, spread the slices in a single layer onto a parchment-lined sheet tray and freeze for several hours. Transfer the frozen slices to a resealable plastic bag and squeeze out as much air as possible. The rhubarb will be easy to pop into pies, jams and most of our favorite rhubarb recipes.

So many people ask me why I dont make a homemade pie crust. The plain and simple answer is, I hate making pie crust. It will sometimes turn out great, but often times, I have bad luck with it. And, its my honest opinion that you can buy a premade pie crust that tastes just as delicious and at the same time, save a ton of time! I leave the homemade pie crust making to my Mom!
Can you substitute fresh pineapple in place of canned?
You can substitute fresh pineapple, however, you need to know what you are doing. Fresh pineapple will need to be cooked down and thickened. It will likely take longer and you would have to decide on the sweetness factor also. I suggest just sticking to the recipe in this post unless you are an experienced cook.
I dont have crushed canned pineapple, can I substitute pineapple pieces or rings?
Yes, you can just chop the pineapple into smaller pieces and put the whole can in a food processor. This will shred the pineapple down and make it more like crushed pineapple.

Fresh Fully Cooked Steamed Suet Meat Puddings 420g
As far as we know nobody else offers TRADITIONAL STEAMED MEAT PUDDINGS that are fresh and fully cooked with a choice of 6 scrumptious different fillings.
These are so simple to reheat taking around 5 mins in your microwave or 40 minutes in the oven, just follow the instructions that come with the Puds.
These all weigh in at around 420g and are not for the faint hearted, some of our customers share one of these between the two of them but we say these are too good to share.
As with all our hot eating pies we recommend that you make and serve a small jug of gravy if you are a gravy person as we tend to fill the puddings with meat rather than pad them out with gravy.
