Instead, they utilize the large bread-baking ovens that they already have in-store. Theyre similar to the type of oven used in most pizza kitchens like Pizza Hut or Papa Johns.

Panera Bread Introducing New Flatbread Pizzas

Fans have been asking it for years, but there is also a business reason behind the move.

– Wednesday Panera Bread announced a new menu item – flatbread pizza.

The chain says its a response to fans who have been asking for it for years. Theres also a business reason.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic people driving to work in the early-morning hours, hurting breakfast sales for some.

The change has many restaurants like Panera starting to shift their focus to dinner items.

As restaurant traffic across the industry increasingly shifts to later in the day, Flatbread Pizzas allow Panera to further compete across dayparts and appeal to off-premise consumer preferences, the company said in a press release. The company says its delivery business has doubled during the pandemic.

The pizzas at Panera will be available in cheese, Margherita and chipotle chicken & bacon flavors and will range from $8-$9 each.

At Panera, baking is at the core of who we are and what were known for we knew that we had all the elements to bring our delicious, hearty flatbreads to life, said Claes Petersson, Paneras chief food and innovation officer, in a statement. With the launch of flatbread pizza, we are looking to redefine the expectation of pizza and carve out a niche for Panera in the pizza category.

Panera Adds Two New Flatbread Pizzas To Lineup

Panera Bread has added two new varieties to its lineup of flatbread pizzas: pepperoni and four cheese. The new offerings join three varieties that were introduced in October 2020: cheese, Margherita and chipotle chicken.

The new pepperoni flatbread pizza features Panera’s signature crisp crust topped with mozzarella, pepperoni and tomato bell pepper sauce. The four cheese flatbread is topped with a creamy white garlic sauce and the combination of Parmesan, mozzarella, fontina and feta cheeses.

Our delicious flatbread pizza crust is the perfect canvas for our amazing ingredients, and we couldn’t resist adding even more flavors for our guests to choose from, says Claes Petersson, chief food and innovation officer at Panera. Eduardo Luz, chief brand and concept officer at Panera, says the restaurant chain has served more than five million flatbread pizzas since they launched late last fall. At that time, Luz said the company anticipates pizza will become a strong anchor for Paneras growing dinner business. Pre-COVID, Panera had started to invest in the dinner business, a daypart that without much historical dedication had represented more than 30% of the company’s sales, he said.

Panera Bread is venturing into the pizza category for the first time with the introduction of its new Flatbread Pizza lineup.

With prices starting at $7.99, the pizzas will feature crispy dough finished on a pizza stone and topped with delicious and clean ingredients, the company said in a press release.

Although it has a reputation as a casual lunch chain offering soups, salads and sandwiches, Panera has been focusing on expanding its dinner offerings in recent years. The company had been considering adding pizza to the menu for a while, and they tested it out at a few pilot locations last year.

These days, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many customers prefer to order for pickup or delivery rather than dine in and likely as a result of this, Panera has doubled its delivery business over the past year, according to CNBC. So, it does seem like the perfect time for the chain to officially add pizza to the menu.

Usually, when Im looking for a cheap, quick pizza, Ill go to Dominoes. However, lately, Ive been settling for Paneras flatbread pizzas. First of all, I like the fact that theyre small. If youre hungry and want to eat a pizza, one pizza is ideal for you. If you have an appetite that isnt too heavy, you can share a pizza with two individuals.

The pizzas feature a crispy but soft flatbread crust. The cheese used is top-quality, while the ingredients are fresh. In the end, its my opinion Paneras flatbread pizzas could be competitive with places like Pizza Hut or Little Caesars every time of the week!

Teriyaki Chicken And Broccoli Bowl

Bowls are trendy right now, which is why it’s no surprise that Panera would toss a new recipe into its bowl lineup. The warm Teriyaki Chicken and Broccoli Bowl is loaded with cilantro lime brown rice and quinoa, chicken thigh, and steamed broccoli florets, then covered in a soy sauce teriyaki glaze and topped with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro. And, of course, it also comes with a side of your choice.

When most people think of Panera, they think of bread-bowl soups, sandwiches, and coffee. The franchise is one of the most popular lunch-oriented bistros in the country and theyre also one of the few cafes that accepted dine-in customers throughout the pandemic. In early 2020, Panera started offering flatbread pizza at all of its locations.

So, how is it?

Paneras new flatbread pizzas are actually quite delicious. Each one is made with fresh ingredients, and the crust itself is comparable to visiting an actual pizzeria. Even though Panera isnt a traditional pizzeria, their history of baking bread means that they have all of the tools they need to make a great pizza!

A friend of mine recently introduced me to Paneras flatbread pizzas, and I have to say that I was quite impressed! Since then, Ive gone out of my way to try all five of the pizzas offered on their menu. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Holy pepperoni! Panera Bread has expanded its menu with flatbread pizzas and introduced a new line of chicken sandwiches.

Flatbread flavors now include cheese, sausage and pepperoni, plain pepperoni, chipotle chicken and bacon and Margherita.

The concept of pizza at Panera came about in October 2020 when the Sunset Hills, Missouri-based company presented it as a pairing suggestion with salad or soup.

Chicken sandwiches are served on a brioche roll with garlic aioli.

The chef who helped designed the item, Claes Petersson, then explained, With the launch of flatbread pizza, we are looking to redefine the expectation of pizza and carve out a niche for Panera the pizza category.

Also now available in franchises across the country are the Chefs Chicken Sandwiches with two takes on the classic. The Signature Take features a seasoned and seared chicken breast, parmesan crisps and emerald greens. The Spicy Take Chicken Sandwich sees a seasoned and seared breast with spicy Buffalo sauce and crispy pickle chips. Both are served on a brioche roll with garlic aioli.

For $10.99 per month, customers can get unlimited drinks.

ST. LOUIS Panera Bread Co. is expanding its menu with three new offerings, including a Grilled Mac & Cheese sandwich.

The new sandwich combines Paneras signature macaroni and cheese, layered with fontina and mozzarella cheeses, sprinkled with Parmesan crisps and sandwiched between slices of toasted classic White Miche.

Panera also has added another variety to its flatbread pizza lineup that was introduced in October 2020. The new variety is sausage and pepperoni. Other varieties in the pizza line include pepperoni and four cheese cheese Margherita and chipotle chicken.

Two out of Paneras three new pizza offerings appear to be vegetarian, reflecting the companys recent pledge to make its menu more vegan and vegetarian friendly.

To keep up with our guests interest in plant-based options, Panera plans to increase its plant-based mix of entrees from the current 25% to at least 50% over the next several years, Sara Burnett, Panera’s vice president of wellness and food policy, told TODAY Food in January.

She added that the chain will continue to offer responsibly raised, lean animal proteins so guests can eat the way they want.”

Following a successful test run in 2019, the JAB Holding Co.-owned Panera Bread announced Wednesday that they are rolling out three new flatbread pizzas nationwide: cheese, margherita, and chipotle chicken & bacon. The addition of the new pizzas marks the second time in less than a year that Panera has entered a new category in about a year .

We have amazing ingredients that are unique to us and we thought, lets try some of these on a flatbread, Panera chief food innovation officer Claes Petersson said. When we did the test last year, people loved it and then COVID hit and we suddenly doubled our off-premise, so we thought, okay what can we do with these flatbreads.

When the original flatbread pizzas were tested in select markets last year, they had a thinner crust and less cheese. They were designed for that straight out of the oven experience for on-premise dining, Panera vice president of food values, sustainability, and public affairs Sara Burnett said. The cheese flatbread was not in the original lineup and was added later on to create more universal family-friendly appeal.

While the introduction of the flatbread pizzas was originally a part of Paneras foray into the dinner daypart last year, Petersson said that the flatbreads are versatile enough for all times of the day.

The new flatbreads start at $7.99 and are rolling out the week of October 28.
