Veering towards the more Animal House stylings of which the series originally took inspiration from, American Pie Presents: Beta House has its characters committing to a number of risqué antics as pledges. This one delves into the most gross-out comedy, as an attempt to make up for an actual plot. It’s unfortunately just a really stupid flick.

American Pie Presents: The Book Of Love

A year after the events of American Pie Presents: Beta House, Erik Stifler is on a mission to lose his virginity before he goes off to college. So when the opportunity comes along for him to visit an old camp called Bandeeba that has just opened up again, it is exactly what he needs. Four teenage friends named Annie, Kayla, Michelle, and Stephanie are senior year students. The friends make a pact to get whatever they desire in their final year. Grant is a handsome new guy in school. He helps Michelle to make her ex jealous after witnessing Tim dumping her. Unbeknownst to Michelle, Tim is actually in a relationship with Kayla as well.

Stephanie meets Grant during a lacrosse match where she knocks him over during a game. Both Michelle and Stephanie fight over Grant and employ ways to win him over. Stephanie employs the help of Grants friend Emmet to ask for his help in this.

Annie meets Grant in the library where they become study partners and fall for each other. Stephanie and Emmet start to fall for each other after spending more time together trying to help her win over Grant.

Grant reveals that he has feelings for Annie and they share a kiss. Michelle soon realizes that she and Oliver, the principals assistant, share a common interest in the topic of John F. Kennedy. She soon falls for him.

Flipping the script on the formula , the frustratingly titled American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules puts female characters center stage and swaps up the original roles pretty much beat for beat. While the film may update the premise a little, it coherently fails the Bechdel test. The plot becomes one long kiss chase of a film, as the girls all end up pining after the same new kid at school in this no-win scenario of a movie. It may have the same name, but this barely resembles the original in warmth or quality. Danny Trejo also joins the American Pie-verse as a janitor here, for some reason. After a decade since the last feature film, and three failed direct-to-video movies riffing off a relic of late ’90s teen comedy, it might be safe to say that the American Pie franchise is finally cooked.

The movie begins with a prologue in which a grandfather is telling his grandson about the events of a summer he had during high school. The story starts when three friends, Chris Oz Ostreicher , Justin Moose Olsen , and Matt Stifler arrive in their Beta House fraternity led by their cousin Sherman Sherminator .
