Unleavened Bread Day :
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith or ministry, let us use it in our ministering he who teaches, in teaching he who exhorts, in exhortation he who gives, with liberality he who leads, with diligence he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
Why Does Paul Talk About Leaven
In 1 Corinthians 5:6-7, Paul explains, Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump.
Why did leaven play such a significant role in the feast? From the time of the Exodus, leaven represented sin. But Israel, a holy people set apart from other nations to be a blessing to others , were to flee sin in the same way they did Egypt.
Paul admonished members of the Corinthian church to do the same. Instead of being prideful because of their newfound freedom in Jesus, the believers had allowed sin among their members. Pauls allusion to the Feast of Unleavened Bread not only indicates the churchs familiarity with the celebration but presents a clear object lesson. Turning an eye to sin invites corruption to spread like leaven in a loaf of bread.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread, or Chag HaMatzot, begins in early spring on the 15th day of Nisan, during the same month as Passover. The feast begins at twilight on a Sabbath day and ends seven days later on another Sabbath day. These Sabbaths are not the same as weekly Sabbaths but are considered high holy days and may occur on any day of the week.

The Week Leading Up To The Feast Of Unleavened Bread

In Luke 19, John 12, and Matthew 21, Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem started what we call Holy Week. On the tenth of Nisan, before the Passover feast, the Jews brought an unblemished lamb into their homes.
The family inspected the lamb to make sure it was free of blemish. How did this parallel with the last days of the Lamb of God? Its precisely what we find going on in Luke 20:
One day as Jesus was teaching the people and preaching the Good News in the Temple, the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him. They demanded, By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?
During this time, the priests, Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, rabbis, and scribes challenged Jesus authority to test or inspect Him.
Additionally, on the day of preparation before the Feast of Unleavened Bread, Jewish families cleaned their houses, eliminating any traces of leaven or yeast. Of course, this leaven represented sin.
Jesus demonstrated this by entering the Temple and chasing the money-changers and merchants out of His House:

What is the spiritual meaning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread?
In 1 Corinthians 13:4, Paul tells us that love is not a leavening agent. The Literal Version of the Bible by Jay P. Green, Sr. sheds more light on the relationship with leaven.
Love has patience, is kind love is not envious love is not vain, is not puffed up does not behave indecently, does not pursue its own things, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth.
Did you catch that in verse four? Paul said that love “is not puffed up.” Earlier in 1 Corinthians 8:1, Paul showed one of the sources of becomming “puffed up” or arrogant, again from the Literal Version.
But concerning the sacrifices to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
In 2 Peter 2:18, the apostle Peter speaks of the arrogance of vanity, which entangles many people back into a life of sin.
In 1 Corinthians 5:6, Paul shows us what leaven or sin does in our lives.
Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? Clean out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. Let us therefore celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Jesus Resurrection During The Feast Of Unleavened Bread
John tells us when Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, she saw two angels:
Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying.
Imagine Mary looking into the tomb at those two angels sitting where Jesus had lain. They tell her that He is not there. He has risen!
Now read these verses and note the similarity to John 20:11-12 above. In Exodus, God instructed Moses how to build the Ark of the Covenant and its mercy seat :
Then make the Arks coverthe place of atonementfrom pure gold. It must be 45 inches long and 27 inches wide. Then make two cherubim from hammered gold, and place them on the two ends of the atonement cover. Mold the cherubim on each end of the atonement cover, making it all of one piece of gold. The cherubim will face each other and look down on the atonement cover. With their wings spread above it, they will protect it.
Can you imagine? God looked forward to the day His Son was laid in a tomb. He saw Him lay there for three days and three nights until His Resurrection. He saw Mary come to the tomb. He saw the angels placed at each end, facing one another with their wings spread out over the place Jesus body had been. Then, He told Moses to build it.
Because He loves us, Jesus the Messiah suffered and died a horrible death for us. This week, thank Him for all He has done and will do.
How Long Was Jesus On Earth After His Resurrection
In the church calendar, the 40 days after the resurrection of Jesus from the dead are one of the most significant times, and at the same time one of the least celebrated.
According to the Bible, Jesus repeatedly appeared to His disciples after His resurrection over the course of 40 days, before ascending miraculously into Gods presence after a period of 40 days. Acts 1:9 tells us that he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight until he was taken up by the Lord.

Matthew, Mark, and Luke, together called the Synoptic Gospels because of their similarities, each contain language that appears to put Jesus and the disciples’Passover preparations and observance on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Before examining each of these accounts, it is helpful to understand the religious environment of the first century and what led up to it. In so doing, we will have taken a long step toward answering this seeming contradiction.
First, the original instructions clearly stipulate that Passover is a single dayAbib 14followed by the seven-day Feast of Unleavened Bread, beginning on Abib 15 . These original instructions also direct the Israelites to keep the Passover in individual homes rather than at the Tabernacle or Templeto catch the blood of the lamb in a basin and smear it on the doorposts and lintel of the house .
Another critical point is that, despite Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread being distinct festivals, they were commonly grouped together and simply called “Passover.” Thus, when the gospel writers mention “Passover,” it can sometimes refer to the Passover sacrifice itself , the day when the sacrifice was made , or the whole eight-day period of Abib 14-21 .

Many households add their own commentary and interpretation and often the story of the Jews is related to the theme of liberation and its implications worldwide.

Where Does The Bible Talk About The Feast Of Unleavened Bread
The first mention of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is in Exodus when God provided a deliverer for Israel . Moses led burdened, enslaved people into a life of freedom. There are multiple references to the feast in Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Does The New Testament Mention The Feast Of Unleavened Bread
The Feast of Unleavened Bread played an important role in the early church and Christs death. One of the most significant verses about the celebration is :
After two days, it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death.
Jerusalem was bustling with devout followers who had gathered to offer sacrifices at the temple. Already, Jesus had incited anger among the religious leaders. Rumors of his healing miracles taunted them, and the men felt their tenuous grasp on power slipping like sand from between their fingers.
As a result, they crucified Him and fulfilled the beautiful imagery of the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The night of the first Passover, Gods people ate roasted lamb prepared with bitter herbs. None of the lambs bones were broken. The meal also included unleavened bread. Each of the items illustrates how Jesus fulfilled prophecy through His death:
While Moses was a deliverer, Christ is the Deliverer. Anyone suffering under the weight of bondage to sinpride, hatred, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, witchcraft, or any other wrongdoingcan find freedom in Jesus. The final sacrifice and the Bread of Life.
