Best Overall: Great Lakes Pot Pies
Great Lakes Pot Pies
Quality ingredients, multiple sizes, and gluten- and dairy-free options: Great Lakes Pot Pies has it all.
Gluten- and dairy-free pies available
When Jannie Teitelbaum set out to create a food business, the first thing she did was ask her friends what kind of food they wanted. The answerconvenient meals without processed ingredientsmade Teitelbaum recall the frozen chicken pot pies of her childhood, and she began testing recipes. One day, six months into the process, her son proclaimed her latest chicken pot pie the best he had ever eaten, and Great Lakes Pot Pies was born.
The company’s chicken pot pies come in three sizes: 5-inch, 9-inch, and a 5-ounce hand pie. Besides chicken, the pot pie contains carrots, celery, onion, peas, and corn, and is seasoned with thyme and just a touch of cayenne pepper to wake up the taste buds. Great Lakes also carries gluten-free and dairy-free chicken pot pies.
You must order a minimum number of pies to qualify for shipping: 9-inch pies come in packs of three, 5-inch pies in packs of eight, and hand pies in packs of 12. The 9-inch pies sell for about $24 each, 5-inch pies are about $10 each, and hand pies are around $7 each. Gluten-free and dairy-free pot pies cost a little more. All pies ship frozen with dry ice, and shipping is extra.

- Garlic and Parsley These aromatics and simple salt and pepper balance this savory pie.
- Chicken Stock& Cream form the creamy gravy sauce

Four and Twenty Blackbirds
SPRUCE15 for $15 off of minimum $50 spend, first time customers only, excludes shipping, standard T& C applies.
The New York City pie shop Four and Twenty Blackbirds opened in 2009 when South Dakotans Melissa and Emily Elsen set out to become the city’s best handmade pie bakery. With high-quality ingredients sourced from local orchards, their apple pie is the ideal American dessert, but it’s so satisfying that it can stand alone as its own meal.
The shop’s apple pie is sweetened perfectly with caramel and is salted to enhance flavor, with a classic, lattice-style crust. Alternatively, the salty honey pie is a rich and creamy custard experience that’s sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.
The pies are shipped frozen with ice packs to retain freshness. They are delicious at room temperature and after being warmed in the oven at 250 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.

Best Chicken Pot Pie: Centerville Pie Co
Centerville Pie Co.
Located on Cape Cod, Centerville Pie Co. has been serving up this homey classic since Laurie Bowen and Kristin Broadley ditched their day jobs as a deputy sheriff and banker to become “The Pie Ladies.” Oprah Winfrey visited the original bakery in the early days, savored the pulled chicken nestled in a doughy-yet-crisp pot pie, and catapulted the shop to fame by including the dish on three of her best-of lists. The pies are carried in many grocery stores on the East Coast, but now, thanks to their nationwide delivery, anyone in the country can get one.
While chicken pot pie may seem like it isn’t worth shipping across a continent, this isnt a make it at home pot pie: the chicken is slow-cooked in a large pot of broth, delicately hand-pulled, and the pie crust is expertly crimped.
Plus, it comes with extra gravy, because we all need a dappling of sauce under our pot pie slice for the real experience. It arrives uncooked, so crank up that oven, bake for 90 minutes, and enjoy the perfect savory flavor.

Stouffer’s Chicken Pot Pie Featured A Crisper Panel At The Top Of Its Tray
We had high hopes for this next pie as it featured a metallic crisper panel at the top of its box. It was a good size and the second most expensive at $3.99.
Despite having the crisper panel, it was still cold in the middle after we pulled it out following the six-and-a-half minute cooking and two-minute standing time directions. Once it was popped in for another two minutes, it was ready to go and it was worth the wait.
It came out looking the best by far and the crust was also by far the best you could literally taste the butter they tucked into the dough.
The chicken was great, but it did feature fewer veggies than some of the other pies, in our opinion. The gravy was a bit runnier than the Boston Market gravy and we also did not find it super flavorful, although it was pretty welcome with the richness of the crust.
Can I Freeze Chicken Pot Pie
Yes! Chicken pot pie is one of our favorite freezer meals.
To freeze, simply follow the recipe instructions, except for egg-washing and baking. Cover and freeze for up to about 3 months .
To use, thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Then follow the remaining instructions for the recipe. It will likely need an additional 5-10 minute bake time due to it being cold in the refrigerator.

Hershey’s Sundae Pie From Burger King
If you want the best chocolate pie you can find at a fast food restaurant, go to Burger King and order their Hershey’s Sundae Pie. This bad boy is similar to the Chocolate Cream Pie from Long John Silver’s, but it’s unquestionably better. It’s also more filling and packs a more flavorful punch.
The first sign that this is going to be a great fast food pie is in the name. When it comes to chocolate, Hershey’s definitely knows a thing or two. This pie uses Hershey’s chocolate chips in its recipe and the result is stupendous. From the chocolate crust to the chocolate filling, and from the chocolate syrup to whipped cream, the Hershey’s Sundae Pie is a delight. The next time you grab a Whopper, be sure to add this pie to your order.
In addition to this chocolate pie, Burger King also had a very popular apple pie on their dessert menu. Unfortunately, the burger chain recently discontinued the Dutch Apple Pie. If they wouldn’t have pulled the plug, that pie would also be near the top of this list.

Baked Apple Pie From Mcdonald’s
Right after you purchase a Baked Apple Pie from your local McDonald’s, this fast food pie smells so good that you’ll be convinced that you’ve made a wise selection. Tragically, the truth of the matter is that everything will quickly go downhill.
While the Baked Apple Pie undeniably smells really good, once you pop it into your mouth, the disappointment will soon be overwhelming. The McDonald’s pie is soft and disgustingly mushy, and you’ll be shocked by just how flavorless you’ll find the crust and the apple filling. While it smells like cinnamon, you can barely taste it. Furthermore, the apples are oddly gelatinous, as if this pie is not really made with apples.
What makes this whole situation even more depressing is the fact that the apple pies at McDonald’s used to be breathtakingly fantastic. What changed? Their pies used to be deep-fried, but these days, as the name suggests, their apple pies are baked. The result is a dessert that smells promising but will thoroughly disappoint your taste buds.
