Ride The Mckinney Avenue Trolley

DIY Christmas tree ornament made with popsicle stick at homeð ð?¡ Economical Christmas craft ideað

Officially now called the M-Line, youre likely to hear long-time Dallasites referring to this unique streetcar by its former name, the McKinney Avenue Trolley. It is the citys last remaining streetcar line which runs up and down lively McKinney Avenue. The trolley runs every day of the year and is free of charge.

Try Local Craft Beverages

Dallas has a booming craft beverage scene. In the Design District, Peticolas Brewing Company is a stand-out, and Deep Ellum Brewing Company in Deep Ellum is not to be missed either. Bishop Cider Co. is also one of our family favorites. At their location in the Bishop Arts District, you can try a variety of their offerings, ranging from sweeter, more apple-y varieties to ones infused with hops.

For wine, head to Main Street in Grapevine for a group of great wineries. For the harder stuff, there are some fabulous distilleries in Texas, too. Check out Bendt Distilling Co. a few minutes away in Lewisville or Firestone & Robertson Distilling if your travels are taking you to Fort Worth, too. There are lots of options in the DFW area.

Assemble And Bake The Pie

Sprinkle the pecans in the baked pie crust and then pour the syrup mixture over them. The nuts will float to the top.

Put the pie on the baking sheet and bake until just set and bubbling at the edges, 50-55 minutes. The pie will still wobble just a bit when nudged thats okay it will continue to cook as it cools. Remove the finished pie from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely, about 4 hours or overnight. For the neatest slices, use a serrated knife to gently saw through the pecans. Serve at room temperature with unsweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Emporium Pies Bring Handmade Goodness to McKinney

Im leaving a really wonderful kitchen with an amazing 4 oven AGA. A kitchen and AGA that has coped with 2 wedding receptions, Gourmet New Years Eve dinners with friends, numerous birthday parties for us and for our friends, introduced our 5 grandchildren to AGA cooked sausage butties, buns and all manner of goodies beloved by them my proudest moment!

I will be planning and designing a kitchen from scratch again. To some this may be a boring chore, but to me its a heaven-sent gift. Being a builders daughter , I grew up with my Dad clearing the table after tea and spreading his latest plans over the tablecloth and explaining the whys and wherefores of the new house plans. So I think planning is in my blood. Especially for kitchens.

My idea for my new kitchen picture courtesy of Fancy Cribs Architecture

This picture is the sort of kitchen I am aiming for a mixture of Traditional and Modern, with lots of storage, display cupboards and room for my cookbook library. But as for another AGA, I dont think we can really afford one now, sadly.

Back to the Christmas Wish List. After emptying our cupboards, we are getting rid of all the cracked and crazed plates, bowls and odd mugs weve accumulated over the years from Sainsburys or similar and sorting out my mountain of White Ivy French porcelaine tableware . And Im planning to build a small but interesting collection of Emma Bridgewaters mix and match tableware.

Cream Cheese + Chocolate Silk = All Good Things

If you read my home-made Buttermilk Ranch recipe post, then you read about my Uncle Todd. There was this one time when Uncle Todd took my entire family out for pie and then to see the movie Anastasia. I had the chocolate silk pie and it was divine. I remember my mom tasting it and saying

Oh! They added cream cheese! That was so smart

I like feeling smart, so I add cream cheese to my chocolate silk too. Haha!

My Emma Bridgewater Christmas Wish List

In reality, the title of this post should be My Emma Bridgewater Fantasy Christmas Wish List. Because fantasy is probably what it will be.

But I live in hope. My lovely family are scattered only around Yorkshire, not all over the world, but Yorkshire is a big place. And they all work very hard, including their partners, and have numerous children So we dont get together as much as we used to, and contact on the phone is often interrupted by a. children or dog or b. a too busy to talk right now Mum conversation. My oldest son sort of begrudgingly admitted that I was maybe right when I said that when you have a young family, it helps to have parents living nearby. Unfortunately they both have moved, in opposite directions, about 2 hours drive away, so its not a case of me just nipping to school to pick the children up if theyre unwell. But thats another story.

So we dont get much chance to chatter about Christmas, and although we all say well send a wish list we never quite get around to it. Therefore I thought Id write mine on here, as a lovely fantasy experience. Here goes.

This is a Tea Towel, believe it or not. At first glance I thought Emma had sidetracked into Medieval Tapestries or something similar but it is entitled the Twelve Days of Christmas and the portraiture of the birds and the glowing colours are stunning.

Hang Out At Truck Yard

Truck Yard is an experience. This food truck park bills itself as a beer garden and adult playground, which is quite an appropriate description.

With a handful of food trucks every day plus the permanent bars and cheesesteak counter, theres lots of food and beverages to choose from. Truck Yard goes beyond food, too. There are regular events like the annual luau, a five-day Cinco de Mayo celebration, live music, movie screenings, costume contests, and many more opportunities for fun and entertainment.

Ride The Coasters At Six Flags Over Texas

The first park in the Six Flags group, Six Flags Over Texas has been a favorite of mine since I had to prove I was tall enough to ride the big kid rides. It remains one of the most popular attractions because its constantly innovatingdeveloping new, different, and unique rides.

You can ride coasters like the New Texas Giant, spin 400 feet in the air on the SkyScreamer, or opt for tamer adventures on the Judge Roy Scream. I particularly love Six Flags during holidaysthe haunted attractions during Fright Fest and the seasonal decorations, food, and activities during Holiday in the Park are outstanding.

Why Word Search Books

I’ve been writing riddles and publishing them in books since 2019 and recently decided that it’s time to expand out into another type of activity book.

The reason for expanding my self-publishing horizons is to have enough topics to reach the initial goal of 100 books published. There’s a long way to go! The Christmas Word Search book puts my current publishing total at 11 books.

Another reason for expanding into word search books is that I was looking for fun, activity-driven books. Given the world’s never-ending problems, I want to continue contributing to the “light, love, and learning” side of life.

    Independent Through And Through

The mix of restaurants, cafes, wine bars, boutiques, art galleries and coffee shops in the Bishop Arts District is unparalleled. Talk about a retail smorgasbordwithin four blocks, residents can choose from Italian, Latin American, French, Japanese, Vietnamese or Cuban cuisine not to mention good old-fashioned Texas BBQ.

To be clear, when we say Italian were not talking about the Olive Garden. The Bishop Arts District is one of Dallas most independent neighborhoods.

The award-winning restaurants and shops that line our streets arent part of a chain, they are run by the owners themselves. Dont be surprised if the chef comes to your table to check on your meal.

When you live in Bishop Arts, every day is a Taste of Oak Cliff. With the Bishop Highline as your home, its easy to be the first in line for Sunday brunch at Oddfellows, dinner at Hatties or happy hour at Ten Bells Tavern.

Youll still need a reservation to sample the handmade pasta and house-cured salami at Lucias, but thats to be expected for a restaurant thats won the James Beard award five times in a row.

Not to be discounted, the neighborhoods more casual eateries really hit the spot when time and money are at a premium. The walk up tacos and yucca fries at the unassuming C Senor and creative combinations at Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. grilled never disappoint.
