Can You Make Bundt Cakes Ahead Of Time

Thanks to the greater ratio of rich ingredients like eggs, butter and sour cream, heavier cakes such as a pound cake or coffee cake can be made up to 3 days ahead of time. Lighter cakes baked in a Bundt pan, like a cake from a box mix, shouldnt be made more than a a day ahead of time so it will still be moist when you serve it.

If you want to plan even further ahead, you can make, bake and freeze an unfrosted Bundt cake for up to a month. Place a completely cooled Bundt cake on a baking tray lined with waxed paper or parchment and freeze for 8 hours. Wrap it with plastic wrap and then foil, and freeze for up to a month. When youre ready to serve the Bundt cake, pull it out of the freezer and unwrap it at least 4 hours ahead of time, letting it thaw at room temperature. Frost it and youre ready to go!

What Is The Most Popular Flavor Of Bundt Cake

    Chocolate Bundt Cake (With Video!)

Red velvet bundt cake is extremely popular. Red velvets rich, decadent flavor makes it ideal for a thick cake-like one made in a bundt pan. Bundt cakes are also very good for adding lots of frosting, thanks to the grooves caused by the fluted edges of the pan, and the frosting is a key aspect of red velvet cake. Other rich flavors that make very good bundt cakes include:

    • Chocolate: just add cocoa powder for a rich treat thats almost the consistency of fudge.
    • Lemon: Lemon extract and frosting are a heavenly combination, and a thick, moist lemon cake is a prime example.
    • Cinnamon apple: A cinnamon apple spice cake is perfect for the holidays.

    Red Velvet Bundt Cake

I was surprised to see butter in this recipe. Almost every red velvet cake Ive ever made has used oil instead, making the cake light and moist.

But it works in this case because of the shape. If youve got a cake that is too soft, it wont hold that shape and youll end up with quite a mess when you go to cut a slice.

That doesnt mean this isnt a moist cake. Its very tender, and the chocolate chips are a nice touch to add some richness.

    Baking With A Bundt Pan

An important tip to remember when using a bundt pan is that you must grease and flour every area of the dish before you pour in the batter. Before you place the pan in the oven, thump it a couple of times to remove any air bubbles from the batter. It is best to use a moist cake batter with this style of pan. The extra surface created with bundt pans means that your cake could dry out quickly.
