Optional Ingredients But Recommended For The Best Keto Bread:

Natural Ovens “Keto Friendly” Bread Review w/Blood Glucose Test

While the above ingredients are the only ones absolutely necessary, Ill go over what each of the optional ingredients does, so that you can decide whether you want to include them. My recommendation is to use them all if you can, for the best keto bread.

  • Sweetener The bread is not sweet, but adding sweetener balances out the salt and makes it taste neutral so that your keto white bread is just like a regular white bread. I highly recommend Besti sweetener, because it has a clean sweet taste and wont crystallize when you store the bread. But, any sweetener you have should work use the conversion calculator and my guide on keto sweeteners to learn more.
  • Xanthan gum The purpose of the xanthan gum is to make the bread more chewy and more sturdy. It still works without it, but is even better if you include it. You decide!
  • Cream of tartar This is an acid found in the baking aisle that helps stabilize the egg whites, helping them achieve stiff peaks better. If you dont have it, you can skip it, but then youll want to avoid carton egg whites and its extra important for your egg whites to be at room temperature.

Which Keto Bread Brands Does Costco Sell

Costco sells a few different brands of keto bread. However, some are better than others for ketogenic dieters. Unfortunately, most of the ketogenic bread on the market would be considered dirty keto, meaning it contains some unhealthy ingredients like trans fats and preservatives. For example, they may contain glycerides that could be created using both hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils or animal fats, which may transfer a small amount of trans fats into the product. Nonetheless, well review and compare the ingredients and nutrient composition of a few different brands of keto bread from Costco as well as tell you where you can find them!

Other Keto Alternatives At Costco

If youre on the keto diet, youre probably on the lookout for other keto-friendly baked products like tortillas, burger buns, and sandwich thins. Luckily, Costco provides all of the above! Keep in mind, these products can also fall under the dirty keto category because they contain preservatives and soybean oil. I personally recommend the cauliflower sandwich thins above the others because it has the cleanest ingredient list!

Costco Keto Bread Review: How Keto

Yes, Costco Natural Ovens Keto Bread is definitely a keto-friendly bread option. At zero net carbs per slice, you just cant get any better than that. It also offers up a moderate amount of protein and a little bit of fat, making it the perfect vessel for your proteins and fat-heavy spreads.

Be aware though, that the presence of modified wheat starch in the ingredients may be of concern, in that it has been shown to cause a slight increase in blood glucose levels in certain individuals.

As long as you can spare the macros, then its perfectly fine to eat Costco Keto Bread in moderation while on the keto diet, especially since it will allow you to enjoy certain carb-heavy foods such as sandwiches or burgers.

The Fact That Its Keto

The very fact that Costco has Keto-friendly options for bread makes it a wonder for many. After all, the demand for Keto bread isnt as much as that of regular bread, which makes finding it difficult for Keto dieters.

Keto bread recipes usually use coconut flour, eggs, and almond flour as primary ingredients.

Since the flour isnt made with wheat, rather, with nuts , they fit the description of Keto-friendly.

One of Costcos multiseed Keto bread is low in carbs, has zero added sugars but a significant amount of 10 grams of fiber per slice!

Also, the nutritional panel clearly says it has only one net carb and 35 calories, which is no less than a gift to Keto dieters.

Thus, it seems a fantastic option for Keto dieters. Plus, its great for everyone watching their weight, looking for low calorie or low glycemic index options.

Is Costco Keto Bread Actually Healthy

NATURAL OVENS KETO FRIENDLY BREAD REVIEW! TASTE TEST! #KETO #LOWCARB

At first glance, the Costco Keto Bread may look healthy, but there are some ingredients that you may first need to consider.

Soybean oil is listed on the ingredients list, and it could potentially be problematic because most soybean oils are partially hydrogenated. Partially hydrogenated oils contain trans fats, which has been linked to a variety of diseases and health problems.

Another concern is its dietary fiber content. At 12 grams of dietary fiber per slice, this is no small number and it takes up a significant portion of the daily recommended fiber intake.

Women should have around 21 to 25 grams of fiber per day, while men should aim for 30 to 38 grams per day. This is relative to body weight, so if you are heavier or lighter than the average, then your daily recommended fiber intake may increase or decrease slightly as well.

Eating too much fiber can cause digestive distress and constipation, especially if youre eating a certain food for the first time. You may want to consume only 1 slice of the Costco Keto Bread first to give your body time to adjust to it, rather than having 2 slices right away.

That said, an adequate amount of dietary fiber in a keto diet is highly recommended and important for overall health and wellness, whether you are a keto dieter or not. It has been shown to be beneficial for lowering blood sugar, decreasing weight, improving digestion, and so much more.

For a keto bread, Carbonaut is super tasty especially the multigrain bread.

Its also very versatile and even makes for great French toast.

Even our 1 and 4-year old enjoy it this way!

Personally, I like a toastier bread and found that this one needs to be heated a little bit more to get that typical bread texture most of us are used to.

For reference, I usually toast on the second setting of our Kitchenaid toaster but always bump it up to the third one for Carbonaut.

Unheated, youll find this keto bread quite floppy.

Its denser in the middle than your usual bread and I often find that buttering it can rip a hole in the middle if youre not delicate enough.

When its toasted to the right level, theres a very small difference in texture though.

Is Allulose A Keto Sweetener

A new- to- me keto sweetener is allulose. Ive been a fan of stevia and erythritol for a long time as you will often find both of those in my dessert recipes. Often though I hear complaints about both as an having aftertaste. So I started investigating allulose as an alternative sugar free sweetener and heres what Ive learned:

  • is a monosaccharide or simple sugar, absorbed by the body, but not metabolized so its very low in calories and wont spike blood sugar.
  • its a very rare sugar, though naturally occurring in a few foods like figs, raisins and jackfruit.
  • its 70% as sweet as table sugar.
  • doesnt seem to have any effect on blood glucose and might actually help improve insulin sensitivity.
  • about 75% of the allulose you consume is excreted in your urine. This means that it has very low fermentation in the gut, which means you shouldnt have any bloating, gas or just upset like can sometimes occur for some people who ingest erythritol or xylitol.

I tested this product out in this recipe. It did not disappoint. There was no aftertaste, no grainy texture, no stomach upset and absorbed nicely as a topping on my keto bread pudding. In my opinion, it has just about the same sweetness as using Swerve in a recipe, about 70% as sweet as table sugar. I dont mind less sweetness in my desserts as Ive been sugar free since 2004 but you may need to add more if youre used to typical sweet desserts. Overall, I would highly recommend allulose as a safe, keto friendly sweetener.

Its dense in the middle than regular bread, and Ive noticed that buttering it may tear through your middle case if youre careful enough.Once its toasted at the correct temperature, theres only a tiny variation in the texture.

Why Is Soy Oil Bad

Natural Ovens Keto

New research shows soybean oil may lead to obesity and diabetes. Soy Oil may also affect neurological conditions including: autism, Alzheimers disease, anxiety, and depression. Read the publication.

Soybean Oil is an ultra cheap ingredient and if you consume products with it, know this: you are buying food that is being made IN THE CHEAPEST WAY possible.

Theres no other reason the company is using soy oil in their product other than: cost. Which should make you question everything, including: the product youre consuming & the company behind it.

What Is Soy Oil

Its made when: the soybeans are cracked and then heated to between 140190 °F. After, theyre rolled into flakes and then solvent-extracted with hexanes. The oil is then refined, blended and usually hydrogenated.

Soybeans used in commercial foods are almost ALWAYS genetically modified making them glyphosate-resistant. This mans that the crop is perfectly glyphosate resistant. Farmers can kill weeds by spraying glyphosate, without killing their soybean crop, and they do. And you consume it a probable carcinogen. Not only that but:

Does It Matter What Kind Of Almond Flour I Use

YES. When people have issues baking my recipes its almost always because they arent using a good quality blanched SUPER FINE almond flour. And unfortunately what some companies are now calling super fine is NOT actually super fine.

Your almond flour should be like a powder. If its gritty, or has chunks in it, its going to affect the results in any keto baking recipe. A really good super fine almond flour will make all the difference in this Keto Bread recipe and any other its worth paying a few extra dollars for the premium stuff.

Brands I recommend are Wellbees Honeyville, and Kirkland I havent tried every brand out there but I can say that of the ones I have tried, Im not a fan of the Bobs Red Mill or Anthonys.

Looking for a different kind of keto bread? Here are some others to try:

  • 90 Second Bread If you want a super quick keto bread recipe, this is it.
  • Chaffles Also known as cheese waffles, they are not actually bread, but people often use them as a low carb sandwich bread. Try it with the plain version and see what you think!
  • Keto Yeast Bread Many people have asked if you can add yeast to the keto white bread recipe in this post, and I dont think you can because of how the whipped egg white batter comes together. So go make this other recipe instead if thats what youre looking for.
  • Keto Flatbread Soft and light, this is perfect for wraps, dipping, and more.

Can I Substitute Coconut Flour For The Almond Flour Or Make Other Changes To This Easy Keto Bread Recipe

For best results, follow this recipe as written! There is no substitute for the hearts of palm simply find a different keto bread recipe. Coconut flour is not an acceptable sub for almond flour you may be able to use sunflower flour for a nut free alternative, but I have not yet tested that theory. As soon as I do I will post the results.

If you make substitutions and they work, please do post your changes in the comments so others can benefit!

Since the original posting, Ive updated this Keto HOP bread recipe with a few improvements based on reader feedback! Thank you!

Changes include adding weight amount to the hearts of palm forming into a shorter loaf for taller slices, increasing the temperature and cooking time, providing nutrition information by loaf as well as slice to account for slice thickness preferences, adding more coconut flour to absorb moisture, and increasing baking powder to lighten density.

If you tried the original version youll have to let me know what you think of the improvements! They are subtle but I do think the overall texture is even better and the flavor isnt really affected at all

Should You Eat Keto Bread From Costco

If your Keto dieting involves eating burgers or bacon, you are already following the dirty Keto diet. So, adding Costcos Keto bread wont make much difference.

Also, if the only carb content you plan to eat during Keto is through the bread, that too, less in amount, there is a possibility that it may not do you any harm.

But if you arent a fan of taking such risks, you may want to make sure your Keto bread from Costco or not doesnt have any harmful ingredients.

Reading just the nutrition facts on the labels may not be enough. Youll have to go through the ingredients and determine whether a specific one comes under Keto or not.

In case you cant find a brand thats 100% Keto and 100% healthy, you can always make Keto bread yourself at home. This way, youll be sure of what ingredients go into your body, in what quantity.

The added advantage is that being in control of the carbs or fats you consume, makes the diet easier to follow.
