Humility Is The Truth
Reflecting one day on why God values humility so highly, sixteenth-century believer Teresa of Avila suddenly realized the answer: It is because God is the supreme Truth, and humility is the truth . . . nothing good in us springs from ourselves. Rather, it comes from the waters of grace, near which the soul remains, like a tree planted by a river, and from that Sun which gives life to our works. Teresa concluded that its by prayer that we anchor ourselves in that reality, for the whole foundation of prayer is humility. The more we humble ourselves in prayer, the more will God lift us up.
Teresas words echo the language of Scripture in James 4, where James warned of the self-destructive nature of pride and selfish ambition, the opposite of a life lived in dependence on Gods grace . The only solution to a life of greed, despair, and constant conflict, he emphasized, is to repent of our pride in exchange for Gods grace. Or, in other words, to humble yourselves before the Lord, with the assurance that he will lift you up .
Only when were rooted in the waters of grace can we find ourselves nourished by the wisdom that comes from heaven . Only in Him can we find ourselves lifted up by the truth.

Oh, what awesome mysteries take place during Mass! A great mystery is accomplished in the Holy Mass. With what great devotion should we listen to and take part in this death of Jesus. One day we will know what God is doing for us in each Mass, and what sort of gift He is preparing in it for us. Only His divine love could permit that such a gift be provided for us. O Jesus, my Jesus, with what great pain is my soul pierced when I see this fountain of life gushing forth with such sweetness and power for each soul, while at the same time I see souls withering away and drying up through their own fault. O Jesus, grant that the power of mercy embrace these souls.

Honoring The Body Of Christ

PRAYER: Dear Lord, as I come to the end of this passage on the Lord’s Supper, I thank you once more for giving us such tangible signs of your love and grace. You help us to remember, Lord, not only by your words, but also by the gifts of your Table. Thank you!Help me, Lord Jesus, to honor your body as I share in your Supper. May I always treat this meal as something special, something instituted by you, an occasion for your grace to be poured out yet again. And may I also pay attention to my brothers and sisters in Christ who share in the Sacrament with me. Help me to extend your love and grace to them.O Lord, you know that sometimes this Sacrament is a cause for division among your people. Today I pray that, by your grace, you might draw us together, to experience the unity we have in you, especially as we share in your Table together. Make us one, Lord, even as you are one with the Father and the Spirit.I pray in your holy name, Amen.

Th March > > will You Reach Lents Destination ~ One Bread One Body
Lent is a march with a destination of the renewal of our baptismal promises at all the Easter Sunday Masses in the world.
Jesus forty days in the desert prefigure Lent. The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert , where He fasted for forty days and refused to doubt that He was the beloved Son of God the Father . Thus, Lent is Trinitarian, and its destination is Trinitarian, for when we renew our baptismal promises, we profess our faith in God the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Lent is a time of waging special warfare against the devil by imitating Jesus forty-day fast . This is especially appropriate, for when we renew our baptismal promises at Easter, we reject Satan, all his works, and all his empty promises.
Ask the Holy Spirit what He has planned for you this Lent. He knows the best route for you to reach your destination, the renewal of your baptismal promises this Easter. The Holy Spirit will give you the power to make decisions and sacrifices necessary to reach Lents destination and to live your Baptism in total love, abandonment, and joy. Let the Spirit lead you into a Lent that leads you to fullness of baptismal life.
PRAYER: Father, may I celebrate Lent with zeal.
PROMISE: “For if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.Rm 10:9

Psalm 62: In you alone is my soul at rest. My help comes from you.
In the summer of 2019, there was discussion in Catholic periodicals about a poll of what Catholics believe about Christs presence in the bread and wine.* The discussion got into how the questions were phrased the term transubstantiation how the questions were understood do Catholics have a correct understanding, etc.
The discussion on how Christ is present prompts others to ask the why of Christs presence. Talk about how the bread and wine are changed might miss another change. How are we changed by receiving the body and blood of Christ? Theologian Anne McGowan** put it this way: “That’s the real change that ultimately matters.” We are changed when we allow Christ more and more to live and act in us.
At the Last Supper, taking the bread, Christ said: This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.*** Vatican II documents tell us that at Mass Christ especially is present in the bread and wine but also in the Scriptures, in the congregation and in the presider. Jesus becomes present so that, recalling his suffering, death and resurrection with thanksgiving and praise, we are empowered to love and serve our fellow human beings like him.
We thank God for life itself and for our rescue by Christ from selfishness and the horrors it can lead to: war, prejudice, oppression of others, etc. Sharing by communion in the self-giving of Jesus commits us to a like service of others.

One Bread, One Body by Presentation Ministries Incorporated is back in circulation. This booklet provides daily reflections of the Daily Readings for a two-month period.
The December 2020January 2021 issue is now available from the Word of Life Prayer Community Office, 60 Green Street, Arima.
This booklet has been used as an evangelisation tool by members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and Christian believers, for hospital patients, prison inmates and shut-ins for over 40 years.
COVID-19 had caused the last two issues to reach the local printer late resulting in the reduction in the number of booklets printed for the AugustSeptember issue, and the cancellation of the OctoberNovember issue.
It is free, but a donation of $5 is recommended by Presentation Ministries to offset local production and distribution costs. Parishes and subscribers are asked to contact WOLPC at 667-3533 for bulk purchase of over 100 copies.
WOLPC is the agent for distribution of One Bread, One Body in the Caribbean and is seeking contacts in other Caribbean islands to expand the regional circulation. Gospel Reflection For The Feast Of The Body And Blood Of Christ29 May One Bread One Body
In the gospels there are plenty of times when Jesus is with people eating and drinking and todays gospel is no exception. As always, Jesus is concerned with people and their real needs. They are hungry, so he feeds them. He is gracious in his abundant giving. But he feeds them not only with food he also feeds them at a much deeper level. He teaches them, he welcomes them and he heals them. He treats us the same way when we gather to celebrate the Eucharist, Jesus welcomes us, he speaks to us and through his Body and Blood, we are nourished and we are healed.
The Eucharist is Gods greatest gifts to us. But it is not our right and we cannot demand it. Pope Francis reminds us of this when he says, the Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect, but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak. Thats all of us and each of us!
Today, we are not only celebrating receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, we are called to remember that we are the Body of Christ, the Church. As St. Paul reminds us, Now Christs body is yourselves, and each of you with a part to play in the whole. . Today reminds and challenges to realise that we are the living Church, the Body of Christ, whose head is Jesus himself. Through our communion with Jesus and each other we are called to be living stones making a spiritual house.

The threat of rising interest rates, more taxes and less welfare, huge amounts of foreign debt putting a strain on health and education spending, is a recurring refrain in our media. All this talk about money, understandable as it is, leaves us wondering: Is this all there is? Is it really money that makes the world go round? Whatever happened media to human interest stories, to human relationships? Are our only values economic ones? Thank God we still have the living memory of Jesus, and the stories of his teaching and example to remind us that theres a lot more to life than money!
This Sunday we remember how Jesus kept Gods highest commandment: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.With all your heart With all your soul With all your strength The love of Jesus for God and Gods people was total but this does not mean that it was any easier for him to practice than it is for us. He too had to struggle to choose between God and self. The tension of it is spelled out in the dramatic story of the temptations Jesus faced during his time of prayer in the desert. There he spent forty days working out the meaning of his life, trying to figure out what God wanted of him. In the process he came face to face with certain fundamental choices.
Three Lessons Of The Resurrection Easter
If Jesus DID NOT rise from the dead, then all bishops, priests, and Christian ministers should go home and get honest jobs. If he DID rise from the dead, then he’s the full manifestation of God, and he must be the center of your life.

Reflection On The Eucharist
Dear Clergy, Religious and Faithful of the Diocese of Antigonish,
On Sunday, June 14, we celebrated the feast of Corpus Christi, the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ and if not for this COVID -19 pandemic, we would have been celebrating our Diocesan Eucharistic Congress it seems an opportune time to provide some reflection on the Eucharist.
This feast of Corpus Christi reminds us just how connected we are to Christ and to one another. We are One Body in this One Lord as the hymn reminds us. If the early Christians had been asked to create a banner about the Eucharist, what words would they have chosen? I think they would have chosen One Bread, One Body, One Church. Certainly, they realized that the Body of the Eucharist creates the Body of the Church. For the first seven hundred years of Christianity, the Eucharist was understood in the context of unity and community. This is evident in the theology of the early Church. The Eucharist is the New Passover of the Christian community. The Jewish Passover celebrated Gods saving work in the Exodus from Egypt. In the Christian Passover, the Eucharist celebrates Christs saving work at Calvary and Easter.
Thus, the Body of Christ in the Eucharist is what builds up the Body of Christ on earth, the Church. As we reflect upon the Eucharist, may we understand more clearly, as did the early Christians, the vision of the unity between Eucharist and Church and how one builds up the other. One Bread, One Body, One Church.
