Adidas Ultra Boost General Info
Adidas releases the Ultra Boost as its premium road shoe blending the most Boost midsole cushioning in their line with their new primeknit upper material .
While the marriage of these two materials could work contextually, this is not the running shoe to spend $180 on.
Other premium trainers including Nikes Vomero, Asics Nimbus, and Adidas own Glide Boost provide much better functional cushioning and fit.
When I first heard about the Ultra Boost, I was very excited about having a ton of Boost foam under my feet for easy days and long runs.
Unfortunately, Boost needs to be supported by a firmer EVA foam to really provide the responsive feel that Adidas lovers have come to expect.

Adidas Ultra Boost Conclusions
If you were to survey a college cross country team, or an elite club team from around the country, you would talk to many runners logging 90-140 miles in their running shoes. In this crowd, the only thing that matters is a shoes fit and performance.
You can throw out the weekend warrior ideals of color ways and fancy materials, and you certainly wont find any of these runners sporting the premium running shoe in the brand of their choice.
Why? Because these shoes are simply too much of a good thing, heavily-laden with bells and whistles, fancy graphics, and plastic crap which does nothing to enhance the performance of the shoe.
The Adidas Ultra Boost weighs 11.5 ounces for my mens size 10 US, several ounces of which are unnecessary for the performance of the shoe.
The fit is sloppy in the heel and too tight in the toe box, and the increased Boost material lacks stability of any kind.I do think that Adidas had the right ideas, however they are poorly executed.
Keep the Boost Midsole but buffer it with Adiprene that provides structure and responsiveness.
Keep the primeknit material but increase breathability and customize fit by only placing in areas around the toe box and fusing the rest of the shoe together with a more traditional mesh.
Please, for the love of all things holy, stop using the ridiculous roll cage of TPU plastic and return to the simple structural elegance of the three stripes logo employed in the Adizero line.

Which Boost Should You Choose Ultra Boost Pure Boost Solar Boost Or ‘ub19’
Not only did adidas top the US sneaker charts in 2016, beating Nike to the top shoe spot for the first time in more than a decade, but in Boost it owns the most popular innovation in sneakers, beloved by sneakerheads and athletes alike.
Whilst launch hype has centred on new Ultra Boosts and NMDs, the Boost family has steadily grown, and the new mens Pure Boost DPR that launched in May 2017 is the latest and greatest addition. I received a sample pair this week to test ahead of the launch.
First up, as you can see from the images, they have a nice sleek, streamlined silhouette, with a two-toned grey knit upper, clean white Boost midsole and lower offset.
In February 2021 adidas released the all new UB21- read our adidas Ultraboost 21 review.
Adidas Ultraboost 21 Upper Unit
I dont think the Ultraboost will ever be a true performance trainer while it still has a bootie construction.
The problem with bootie constructions is that it makes it impossible to implement double last row eyelets so heel lock lacing cant be done.
The upper of the Ultraboost reminds me of the first version of the React Infinity Run Flyknit: both have loose heels resulting in subpar foot lockdown.
Nike fixed the problem in the second version of the React Infinity Run Flyknit by changing the bootie construction and the shoe improved tenfold. Will Adidas do the same with the Ultraboost 22? Its unlikely.
The Primeknit+ upper on the Ultraboost feels very soft, smooth and comfortable but its a bit on the warm side as breathability is not great.
The plastic cage makes a comeback and is not as intrusive. Its not a full plastic cage like on versions 1-3 because the cage is not connected to the midsole.
There is a 0.5mm gap between the cage and the midsole while the cage is stitched on.
The cage didnt bother me at all and I found midfoot lockdown to be good. I found the overall fit true to size but the loose heel was the big weakness.

Adidas Ultraboost 21 Intro
Is there any running shoe that looks as good as the Ultraboost with a pair of skinny jeans and a fitted tee? Probably not.
And theres a very good reason for that: running shoes are built for running and not to look good going to the mall.
Ever since version 1 of the Ultraboost when Adidas paid Kanye West to wear an all white pair on stage, sneaker heads have adopted the Ultraboost as a lifestyle sneaker.
The Ultraboost has always blurred the line between performance trainer and lifestyle sneaker.
Adidas markets the Ultraboost as a serious running shoe but the fact that they release space collaborations with NASA and funky metallic-coloured midsoles proves that Adidas wants the Ultraboost to also be a trendy casual shoe.
The Ultraboost is Adidas most popular shoe so the formula is obviously working for them they can kill two birds with one stone.
My favourite Ultraboost was the very first version. At the time, not many trainers were using TPU midsoles so there was nothing like it in the market.
It was very soft, springy and comfortable at the same time. Its one weakness was that its outsole wore down like butter because this was pre-Continental rubber days.
In the versions that followed, focus of the Ultraboost shifted more towards being a lifestyle sneaker as the upper became more relaxed.
More brands started using TPU midsoles so it didnt make sense to stick with the expensive Ultraboost that didnt feel like a performance running shoe anymore.

What is the best method to study?
For every 30 minutes, you study, take a short 10-15 minute break to recharge. Make studying less overwhelming by condensing notes from class. Underline or highlight keywords. Create visual aids like charts, story webs, mind maps, or outlines to organize and simplify information and help you remember better.
Are online classes easy?
Online classes are no easier than classes offered in the traditional classroom setting and in some cases can be even be more difficult. There are several reasons for this. Online courses require more self-motivation. It can be hard for some students to stay motivated when theyd rather be doing something else.

There are many online education websites that offer academic courses for a fraction of the cost of traditional colleges and universities, making them ideal for lifelong learners. How To Choose Between Pure Boost Dpr And Ultra Boost
There is no right answer, it depends on how you run, and a lot of new thinking is about finding your bodys preferred movement path where the trainer feels like an extension of your feet when you run it in, and doesnt counter your natural movement.
Some runners like higher heel-to-toe drops, others gravitate towards flatter, more natural models.
If Im running long distance, I love the energy rebound from the Ultra Boost when I heel-strike.
However the Pure Boost DPR is definitely filling a gap for a more dynamic and adaptable shorter distance shoe . Why?
Well with the Pure Boost DPR, you still get the cushioning and energy rebound of an Ultra Boost but in a lighter, lower profile shoe, with a more racer like feel.
The Pure Boost DPR also offers greater support in the upper for stop/start city runs and lateral movement. As such, the Pure Boost DPR would also be equally at home in a HIIT class as a 5k.
Combine this with a sleek silhouette and it appears adidas has another winning formula on its hands in the DPR.
Adidas Duramo 9 Sole Unit
The thing that the Adidas Duramo 9 got right was the cushioning. The mid sole cushioning offered a cushioned run from heel to forefoot. I could even feel the responsive cushion in my toes.
Adidas Duramo 9 Heel
The Mid sole cushioning also rebounded very well. I took these shoes out five days in a row and each day the shoes cushioning recovered/rebounded nicely.
The cushioning did supply the shoe with a balanced, stable feel that added to the comfort aspect of the shoes during longer runs.
The out sole of the shoe was what I would consider to be your typical out sole. The tread of the shoe is what you will see on your typical running shoe.
Even through Adidas claims that the shoe is good for trail use, the traction on the out sole does not support this claim.
Adidas Duramo 9 Sole
The tread of the shoe offered good grip for treadmill runs but did not offer much in the way of traction on trail runs.

External Lacing System: Outdated And Too Heavy
I will admit, although I had issues with the overly-flexible upper around the toebox, the lockdown over the mid-foot works. However, its accomplished with a sewn-on plastic lacing structure.
I hate this design feature, it adds weight, its ugly, and it’s outdated.
I cut it off just to see how much unnecessary weight it adds to the shoe, and 22g is just too much when a few welded overlays and eyelets would have sufficed.
What About The New Ultraboost 19 ‘ub19’
Maybe it wont be as universally loved for its aesthetics, but the Ultraboost 19 is a better running shoe. It delivers a more locked down, secure fit, achieving that with just the right amount of adaptability.
The mesh cage is more comfortable than the old plastic one, and the new 3D wire heel counter is a clever innovation, giving the heel support without any resistance.
The 20% increase in Boost means a huge chunk of responsive cushioning under your foot, so the ride is pretty hard to beat, especially if you want a trainer for steady long-distance runs.
Overall, the UB19 is a step forward in terms of a performance trainer. Read our review of the adidas Ultraboost 19.

Do The Ultra Boost And The Pure Boost Dpr Differ In Size
The Pure Boost DPR are lighter than the Ultra Boost at 258g , and combined with the lower heel-to-toe drop they do feel notably different, with more of a natural, racing feel.
The offset differential doesnt sound like much at only a 2mm difference, but you notice it straight away.
- Ultra Boost Differential: 10mm & Stack Height 29mm/ 19mm
- Pure Boost DPR Differential: 8mm & Stack Height 24mm/ 16mm
