You haven’t had apple pie until you’ve had Ala Mode’s French Apple Pie. SO good! Yes, they have lots of other flavors, but I haven’t tried any yet because I love the French Apple so much. My husband loves the Mexican Chocolate. Maybe someday I’ll…branch out, but for now, I am very content with my French Apple every. single. time.More

As part of our mission to find the best Coconut cream pie, we stopped in at A la Mode. We were not disappointed, we tried the coconut cream and the lemon meringue, both are worth recommending and the next time we arein Seattle, we…will definitely be back to try a few more.More

Organized pick up on the morning before Thanksgiving. They assign a pick up time so there’s no waiting.

Found this place by chance after a long day of visiting the Woodland Park Zoo. Pie and ice cream sounded like just the thing to recharge our batteries, so we decided to take a chance. So often something that sounds yummy is not worth the…calories. Well, we hit the jackpot! We shared an enormous piece of apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It cost around $9 but was well worth it as both the pie and the ice cream were delicious and there was plenty for two. We are visiting from the east coast, but if we lived in the area would definitlely be regular customers.More

Delivers pies to Seattle and Bellevue

How to

Ordering pies from A la Mode is easy. Just make sure you’re doing it 24 hours in advance, and that you can set aside a two-hour chunk of time between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to wait for your pies. Pop onto the company’s website and stare at the numerous glam-shots of the pies and tarts till your stomach’s chosen your pie- or tart-to-be.

What it is

Those who think that pizzas are the only pies delivered in Seattle are dead wrong. A la Mode is turning the food-delivery concept on its head with its oh-so-delectable custom pies and tarts. The online shop, whose headquarters are in Capitol Hill, started delivering its pies to customers in the Seattle area earlier this month.

Chris Porter, the self-proclaimed “pie guy,” loved the store-bought frosted pies his mom would pack in his lunch when he was a kid. He also loved being in the kitchen, though, and learned that patience, technique and a little bit of creativity were ingredients for tasty treats.

“I think that pie, up until now, has been a forgettable dessert,” said Porter. “What’s great about pie is that it’s all about taste and what’s inside – it’s not about the sprinkles or the fluff.”

Online Pie Delivery Service Gets A Permanent Home On Phinney Take A Look Inside Before The Doors Open

ByAllecia VermillionNovember 7, 2011

The arrival of A la Mode Pies is the latest installment in whats shaping up to be quite a year for openings on Phinney Ridge. Owner Chris Porter founded his pie business as an online bakery in October 2009. Last week he moved his operations out of the kitchen at Knee High Stocking Co. and will open the doors of his little neighborhood pie café Thursday at 7am.

Porter said he always planned to open a cafe. I did it kind of backwards.

The shop, located at 5821 Phinney Ave N, will serve all the pies currently listed on the website, as individual slices and whole pies. Porter is also bringing back the petite pies he used to sell, which is essentially a pie for two. Hell serve espresso from Caffe Umbria and ice cream from Bluebird, which opened its own outpost last month less than a mile to the north.

Its A la Mode Pies, so youve got to have pretty good ice cream, he says. Bluebird also created a signature flavor for A la Mode based on Porters tropically fruity Blue Hawaiian pie.

Pie-philes can also buy merchandise to aid in baking, consuming, serving or generally declaring ones love for pie. Some time in the next year, Porter says hes planning to expand into savory items, namely quiche.

A la Mode Pies, a pie delivery business currently located on Capitol Hill, is moving operations and opening its first café in Phinney Ridge. A la Mode Pies will be at 5821 Phinney Ave. N. in the space formerly occupied by Dollys Dollhouse, next to Hazel Salon & Organics and across the street from Woodland Park Playground.

A la Mode Pies hopes to open sometime in September.

Owner Chris Porter opened A la Mode Pies about two years ago. He currently cooks out of the Knee High Stocking Co. kitchen, which is a speakeasy-themed bar and restaurant on Capitol Hill.

Business has just grown and grown and grown, he said of the need for his own kitchen and to branch out from delivery only to a café. We chose Phinney because, one, a large number of our customers are already in Phinney, and, two, its just such a charming neighborhood. The location itself is so sweet it seemed like such an ideal place for our flagship store.

Porter said he had family living in Phinney Ridge when he was young, and hes well aware of the neighborhoods affection for Dollys Dollhouse, which closed last year when owner Joyce Clifford passed away.

Were definitely going to have a little homage to Dollys inside, he said. And were definitely going to continue the relationship that that space has had to the neighborhood.

Porter said A la Mode Pies does a big business in weddings, office and birthday parties. He said hell need to hire about five people for the new café.
