Fresh pies, a store and an antique shop. This place is a must stop when traveling by. A long list of pies on the menu either by the slice or whole tin. Eat your favorite and take a whole pie home with you.
There is a friendly woman who owns this place, and runs the antique shop near the bakery. Not a lot to do except to try their pie. You can pick fresh strawberries which was kind of fun but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there just to pick berries.

How To Make Delicious Apple Pie Pops
Over the weekend, I went apple picking with my family. It was a lovely day filled with fantastic weather and a great bonding opportunity for the family.We visited Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville, CA, about 1 1/2 hours from my hometown in Northern California. It was quite the journey through a very scenic mountain route and provided a great family outing with a heavy does of nature.
When we lived in NY, before 2013, we often went apple picking near our home in Westchester County, and as a fall family tradition, we would make delicious pies with our stash. Since moving to California, weve only gone apple picking twice. However, weve still kept the tradition of making delicious pies in the fall.
Growing up in Dominica, apple wasnt a fruit that we ate often. Although I read about it in books and magazines and saw it regularly on television, it remained a special treat throughout my childhood. My parents would purchase apples during the Christmas season in Roseau , and this would be a clear sign that well have a great Christmas. We didnt make pies or any other delicious desserts. Instead, we enjoyed our sweet apples with nothing added, simply natural.
We had a very productive day at the farm, and we brought home quite a few gala apples. They were sweet and crisp how I like them. Since mid to end of September is the beginning of the season, the trees were loaded. We were able to pick four varieties, but we stuck to gala, one of our favorites.

Pies must remain frozen for food safety purposes. Pies that are not picked up will not be kept frozen. Salinas FFA members, Salinas FFA Boosters, and advisors are not responsible for pies that are not picked up during the specified time frame.

Apple pies are their specialty, but they also have Olliberry pies, apricot pies and many other varieties as well. They also make the best apple dumplings I have ever tasted. Their freshly made apple juice is so good too.

While on holiday we went to Gizditch to sample Apple pie and Apple Dumpling. Well the pie was really nice. I wasn’t sure about the Dumpling as I thought of English suet dumplings … But no it was a really tasty experience. Yum yum

The longtime local farm, renowned as a you-pick place and pie shop, also contains many other delights for the young and young at heart. Antiques, apple juice, jams and country collectibles are all part of the Gizdich tradition, and the drive is worth it just to soak up some of the old-time farm atmosphere in a beautiful setting.
What to do here: From spring through fall, there’s always something mouth-watering to pick and take home. the main reason I came over is to buy some souvenirs as gifts. When you pull in, the first building facing you is the gift shop. The pie shop is next door. You can buy T-shirts, aprons, coasters, refrigerator magnets, key chains, lemons, corn, apples, stickers, etc. While you are there, might as well get a pie. They bake very good tasting pies. Today, there is no regular apple pie but the Dutch version. the Dutch apple pie is really good.If you are into picking, you can pick your strawberries and or apples.

Such a nice trip in the country. I always take my out of town guests to grab a slice of pie and a scoop and then walk around. Nita has done such a great job in preserving what is important and she’s often spotted greeting visitors and touching base with staff. My favorites are apricot and of course the boysenberry.
