New Bakery Nothing Bundt Cakes Relying On Word Of Mouth
Melinda Mason readily admits having the same opinion many people do when they first drive by a Nothing Bundt Cakes store.
“Who would open a store that does just bundt cakes?” she says of her initial reaction after driving by one in Southlake, Texas, where she lived at the time.
Once she and her husband stopped in for a Bundtini and the occasional Bundtlet, both smaller versions of the full-size cakes, she began to understand that this was a different kind of cake store. After two of her special-education students got jobs at the franchise there in Southlake, it was part of her role as their teacher to job-coach them. It was then that she realized that not only were the cakes good, but the business model was just as appealing.
“I got to see the whole operation,” Mason says.
She was so impressed, she soon contacted the home office in Dallas, applied for a franchise, took retirement from her teaching job and began scouting for a location to open her own Nothing Bundt Cakes store. She chose Chattanooga because she and her husband love the outdoors and she has family in West Tennessee.
Her store next to Ruth’s Chris off Shallowford Road is the first Nothing Bundt Cakes in Chattanooga and the sixth in Tennessee. Her husband, a vice president with a chemical company in Texas, has remained there and makes the commute when he can.
“That’s how much we believe in it,” she says.
She opened the store a month ago and has been thrilled with the reception.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is always a good choice!We got a box of 16 of the little cakes with birthday toppers for a girl in our neighborhoods birthday. She was very excited and thankful for them. Also, we may have picked up a dozen of the little cakes for our household, too! ??
I only tied one of the small $5 bundt cakes as we are on vacation and didn’t want them to sit in the hot car! The Keylime was simply amazing. Icing was perfect! They were closed on Sunday or I would have went back! Definitely stop here. The staff was amazing and very patient as the 6 of us made a decision!
I have frequented this Nothing Bundt Cakes location many times over the years. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful and the cakes they make are fresh and delicious. I have ordered many bundtlets and other cakes here and taken them to work and group gatherings as well. I highly recommend this NBC location!

Nothing Bundt Cakes Opening Soon In Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosas latest bakery is opening soon on McFarland Boulevard.
Nothing Bundt Cakes, a national franchise with about 330 locations across the country, is bringing its latest specialty cake store to 1393 McFarland Blvd. E., right next to the Sleep Number bed business and across from Krispy Kreme.
Melinda Mason, a retired teacher and 1981 graduate of the University of Alabama, is opening the store with her husband, Dan, marking their second Nothing Bundt Cakes site.
We felt like it would be a great opportunity, Mason said.
Citing construction setbacks, Mason said she now intends to have Nothing Bundt Cakes in operation by Monday, though the doors could open a day or two before then.
Well have a now open sign out whenever we get everything finished up, she said.
Once open, Mason said she expects the store to employ between 15 and 20 people.
Its current hours of operation are set for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
As the name implies, the business specializes in bundt-style cakes in 10 flavors and four sizes that can serve from one to 18 people or more.
The recipes follow those of the companys founders, who began the business out of their homes based on feedback from their friends, neighbors and relatives, according to the companys website.
This means fresh ingredients from eggs to cream cheese go into each of the daily baked goods.
