Im so excited to share my experience with hosting our first Chuck E Cheese birthday party! Im a bit of a control freak, so I cant say I wasnt worried about how this party would go down, but it was even better than I could have expected.

Chuck E. Cheeses has launched a new party package that proves no one is too old for Chuck E. Cheeses. It is the Eat More, Play More party package that was designed specifically for kids over the age of 8. It is priced the same as the Super Star Package and includes the following:

How Can I Save Money
It would be cheaper to just walk into the restaurant if you have less than four to six children invited to the birthday party. If you choose this route check for coupons and deals in the local newspapers and online.
By purchasing tokens in bulk you would be able to save some money. For instance, 500 tokens are sold for around $50 on eBay, but you can purchase them directly from the restaurant as well.
Bonus tokens might be offered during some hours.
In order to benefit from any discounts and deals, it is recommended to book your party online.
As it is allowed to bring your own desserts, it would be better for you to bring your own birthday cake.

So, even though our guest were going to get a Chuck E. Cheeses goodie bag we decided to also make our own with an outer space theme. This is where the fun began, the birthday girl and I carefully chose every toy we put in the goodie bag, and she even picked the goodie bag itself!
I love involving my children as much as possible because I remember as a child how much I loved to be involved in the goodie bag process. Once we got all the toys my daughter assembled all the bags.
You can customize your bags with items that you buy, like we did, or if youre pretty crafty you can DIY all the contents in your goodie bag. I have done this in the past but its a lot more work for me and it has less involvement for the children, which is why this time we bought all the items in the goodie bag.
Customizing the goodie bag was definitively the highlight of the birthday prep for my child!
How To Plan The Easiest Birthday Party Ever With Chuck E Cheeses
We live in a very small town, and there isnt a whole lot here. Im not sure how things are where you live, but it seems to me that home parties are not the thing. People just dont seem to have them. That means that in our town you need to drive twenty minutes minimum to get to a location that will host birthday parties.
We looked at a couple of different birthday location options, but Nicks choice was Chuck E. Cheeses. Seriously, what kid doesnt want a birthday party there? If I had known how easy they make planning birthday parties I wouldnt have even looked anywhere else.
From the moment we decided to hold Nicks birthday there, to filling out the thank you notes at the end, Chuck E. Cheeses has had everything covered for me. There is truly nothing they didnt think of when it comes to planning a birthday party. Its no wonder that Chuck E. Cheeses is the number one place for birthdays!

Chuck E Cheeses History
The first Chuck E. Cheeses originated in San Jose, California as the brain child of Nolan Bushnell, who is also famous for his groundbreaking work at Atari during that time. In fact, according to an interview he did for The Atlantic in 2013, he was looking for a way to create a venue for the video game machines that Atari was distributing at the time.
In 1984 Chuck E. Cheeses merged with the Showbiz Pizza Place chain and by the early 1990s had renamed all of the locations Chuck E. Cheeses. As of 2014 there were 577 Chuck E. Cheese locations.
Fun Fact: The original mascot for the chain was supposed to be a coyote but the costume store where Bushnell ordered the exterior for the animatronics team sent over a rat instead. After briefly considering the name of Rick Rats Pizza, Bushnell went with Chuck E. Cheeses on the advice of some sensible co-workers.
How To Make A Chuck E Cheese Reservation Online
One of the best things about planning our party was being able to book it online. I hate making phone calls, and we were doing it at one of the Chuck E Cheese locations thats not nearby, so going in wasnt an option. The new system lets you select your package, how many people, your additional food or add-ons, and an available time/date all online.
Its seriously so simple just go to ChuckECheese.com to book up to 90 days in advance but seriously who knows when theyre having their party that far in advance?
You can make changes to lower the number in your reservation up to 24 hors before your party so book the max number you invited then give them the final number a day or two before.
If youd rather have the party space all to yourself, choose the VIP option when youre booking your party, and you can get in before the restaurants normal open hours! Thats HUGE right now with social distancing being so important.

Why A Chuck E Cheese Birthday Party
One of the hardest things about not living near my family is not being there for all the special occasions the concerts, the games, the graduations, and the birthdays.
Since we wont all be together again until who knows when, over Christmas break we decided to have a little Chuck E. Cheese party for my son K, so he would get the chance to celebrate with his cousins for once.
Its been a long time since Ive either had or been to a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party, but this one was way better than the ones I remember growing up.

Whats The Schedule Like
We arrived at Chuck E Cheese about 15 minutes before the party was set to start. Everything was set up in the back already and our host greeted us. She handed over a bag of play passes as well as a birthday bracelet for my sweet birthday girl.
Our host then went over our order . From there, she went over the schedule, which looked like this:
12pm party starts, kids play
12:45pm pizza time! Our host served the children and made sure they all got what they needed.
After pizza, Chuck E himself came out to dance with the kids. We then sang Happy Birthday while the host cut and distributed the cake. Since we got the Mega Super Star package, it also included Dippin Dots
From there, it wouldve been gift time, but we nixed that to do gifts at home.
After cake, it was ticket blaster time! My daughter wasnt too keen on it, so her big brother stepped in.

Dad Killed As He Carried Daughters Birthday Cake To Texas Chuck E Cheese
A doting father of two was fatally shot Friday in a Texas parking lot confrontation, holding a birthday cake meant to celebrate his 6-year-old daughter who was waiting for him at a nearby Chuck E. Cheese, heartbroken relatives said.
Calogero Duenes was fatally wounded following a verbal exchange caught on surveillance video with a driver who fled, authorities said.
Duenes, 24, then stumbled into the restaurant in Humble, Texas, where he collapsed, his sister in-law Rosemarie Uresti said Wednesday.
“I feel so sorry for my nieces,” Uresti, 18, said. “They have to grow up without a father now. He was a good father. He did everything for them.”
Uresti was unable to attend what was supposed to be a family party Friday night, she said.
Amber Uresti, Duenes wife and mother of the couples children, told NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston that she can’t fathom what would cause someone to react with senseless gun violence when Duenes was practically defenseless.
Its a tragedy. I really cant wrap my head around it. Like, Im hurt. I cant understand how someone can do that to someone thats holding a cake, Uresti said.
My husband passed without me, without anybody to hold his hand, to comfort him. I want justice. I want justice for my children, for Calogero, she told the station.
The 25-year-old widow declined to comment Wednesday, saying she was making funeral arrangements with other relatives.
Humble police did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday afternoon.

It really, really is. It was so nice to not have to worry about goody bags or ice cream, plus the unlimited play for the 2 hours really helped parents better enjoy the experience and not worry about watching their childs play points. I also love that the goody bags allow for every child to leave with something, regardless of how many tickets they earned. I genuinely love the Chuck E Cheese party pack.

Chuck E Cheese offers birthday cakes at an additional charge they have both chocolate and vanilla, and you can also purchase ice cream cups for 99 cents each. Of course, youre also welcomed to bring your own cake . Chuck E. will come out and sing with the kids and your party host will cut and serve the cake.
An 8 vanilla or chocolate cake is $13.99, and a 1/4 sheet cake is $21.99.
Heads up, it gets crazy loud when Chuck E. comes around. Hell also stick around for pictures .
