God Knows | Audio Reading | Our Daily Bread Devotional | July 24, 2022

Our Daily Bread Radio is a daily, 2-minute program. Fashioned from the print edition of Our Daily Bread, this daily broadcast has become a favorite devotional of listeners around the world.

In November 1960, Richard De Haan created Our Daily Bread Radio. Dennis De Haan and Henry Bosch revived the program in the 1970s, but it wasnt until 1981 that the radio program was produced in sync with the printed page.

For more than 30 years, veteran broadcaster Les Lamborn faithfully served as the voice on Our Daily Bread Radio. On January 1, 2015, Steve Lloyd-Jones stepped into the role of program host.

Beginning July 2018, Our Daily Bread Radio will feature a variety of voice-talent on the broadcast, rather than just one voice.

It’s the same tried-and-true content listeners know and love … with a fresh sound reflective of the diversity of authors who lend their pen to the well-loved devotional, Our Daily Bread.

Our Daily Bread Radio is available for airing Monday through Sunday via Amb-OS and FTP download.

Our Daily Bread Direct Response Spots are also available to rotate on an ROS basis. These creative radio spots are designed to encourage listeners to engage in the Bible on a daily basis. They also share the various ways that Our Daily Bread is available for Bible study help. Each quarter, three 60-second spots, two 30-second spots, and one 15-second liner are delivered to stations on CD.

Love The App When It Works

Ok, this is really getting annoying! When the app received its newest update version the app would not open! Realize everyone that updated to the new version was also experiencing the same thing! Wrote a review and the developers advised to delete the app. Once that was done the app worked. Now as of April 1, 2021 the app is blank for todays reading, and when you click on the month it opens and the spinning wheel just continues to spin like its trying to open! VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! I thought it was a April fool joke but this is getting annoying because the next day its the same! Someone on the develop team is/has been slacking on working out the quirks to this app!!! And other main issue is when the new version was updated you all took away the motivation count of how many days being read! This was a cool feature and very motivating!! WHY?!??! Not liking none of this. And when mentioned about the day count on my last review complaint, the developers only address the crashing of the new version, and failed to mentioned about the day count. Could address that as well please?!?!?!? God bless!!!

Our Daily Bread 10th December 2022

7 In my distresso I calledp to the Lord I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice my cry came to his ears.

ODB FOR TODAYS INSIGHT: Davids song of praise in 2 Samuel 22 comes toward the end of his life. It recounts his history with his enemies and how God rescued the king over and over through years of challenges, danger, and hardship.

At the beginning of the books of Samuel, Israel wanted a king who would fight for them like all the other nations . After the failure of Saul, David became that king. He fought their battles, and he won. But in his final song of praise to God, he pointed out that it was ultimately Godnot himselfwho did the true saving. His words became the song we know as Psalm 18. The Israelites incorporated the kings personal words of praise into their liturgy. Whenever the song was sung, it reminded themand should remind usthat their true deliverer was and always will be their God.

MESSAGE

The sixth-grade basketball game was well underway. Parents and grandparents were cheering on their players, while younger brothers and sisters of the boys on the teams entertained themselves out in the school hallway. Suddenly, sirens blared and lights flashed in the gym. A fire alarm had been tripped. Soon the siblings came streaming back into the gym in panic, looking for their parents.

Our Daily Bread devotion for today

The Topic of Our Daily Bread For 11th December 2022 is Clinging to Whats Good

Bible in a Year: Hosea 58 Revelation 2

Memory Verse: Romans 12:9

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil cling to what is good.

Todays Scripture & Insight: Romans 12:913

The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:9 that love must be sincere. The word used to describe love here is sincere , which simply means unhypocritical or behavior free from hidden agendas. A hidden agenda is when a person appears to demonstrate love for someone but really has a selfish motive. It would be easy to read the statements that follow this verse as separate exhortations.

However, verses 913 are meant to describe what genuine love should look like. This vision of love matches Pauls encouragement in Philippians 2:34: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Jesus said were to love our neighbor as ourselves . True and sincere love focuses on others and doesnt seek its own pleasure.

Odb Message For Today

When we park our car near an open field and walk across it to get to our house, we almost always get some sticky cockleburs on our clothesespecially in the fall. These tiny hitchhikers attach to clothing, shoes, or whatever is passing by and ride to their next destination. Its natures way of spreading cocklebur seeds in my local field and around the world.

As I try to carefully remove clinging cockleburs, Ive often thought about the message that admonishes believers in Jesus to cling to what is good . When were trying to love others, it can be challenging. However, as the Holy Spirit helps us hold on to whats good with all we have, we can repel evil and be sincere in our love as He guides us .

Cocklebur seeds dont fall off with a mere brush of the hand, they hang on to you. And when we focus on whats good, keeping our mind on Gods mercy, compassion, and commands, we tooin His strengthcan hang on tightly to those we love. He helps us stay devoted to one another in love, remembering to place others needs before our own .

Yes, those cockleburs can be challenging, but they also remind me to cling to others in love and by Gods power to grip tightly what is good .

Reflect & PrayHow can clinging to whats good help you love a challenging friend or family member? How is sincere love also a tenacious love?Remind me to cling with all my might to whats good, Jesus. I desire to reflect Your love to others.

Who You Are

In 2011, after a decade of childlessness, my wife and I chose to start afresh in a new country. Exciting as the move was, it required my leaving a broadcast career, which I missed. Feeling lost, I asked my friend Liam for advice.

I dont know what my calling is anymore, I told Liam dejectedly.

Youre not broadcasting here? he asked. I said I wasnt.

And how is your marriage?

Surprised at his change of topic, I told Liam that Merryn and I were doing well. Wed faced heartbreak together but emerged closer through the ordeal.

Commitment is the core of the gospel, he said, smiling. Oh, how the world needs to see committed marriages like yours! You may not realize the impact youre having already, beyond what you do, simply by being who you are.

When a difficult work situation left Timothy dejected, the apostle Paul didnt give him career goals. Instead, he encouraged Timothy to live a godly life, setting an example through his speech, conduct, love, faith and purity . He would best impact others by living faithfully.

Its easy to value our lives based on our career success when what matters most is our character. I had forgotten that. But a word of truth, a gracious act, even a committed marriage can bring great changebecause through them something of Gods own goodness touches the world.
