    Green District is among the new restaurants coming to Jeffersonville.

    JEFFERSONVILLE Theres not much open space at Jeffersonville Town Center and pretty soon there will be even less.

    A few weeks ago the city announced six new businesses coming to the area and for some, its a chance to break into the Southern Indiana market.

    The new Green District location, sandwiched between Spectrum and Nothing Bundt Cakes at 4227 Town Center Boulevard, is close to home for co-founder Chris Furlow.

    He lives with his family in New Albany and said a Southern Indiana location of the fast casual restaurant offering healthy options has been the most requested from customers.

    Its a very underserved market when you think of healthy fast food on the go, he said. We want to have a Green District here. Its our brand, we live here and want to supply friends and family with healthy options.

    Green District is a restaurant that focuses on salads, grain bowls and wraps. Its based in Louisville and the plan is to eventually have eight to ten stores in the area. Other Southern Indiana restaurants are in the works, but the locations havent been revealed yet.

    We picked that specific location because I do believe whether you live in New Albany, Sellersburg, Jeffersonville or Clarksville, its basically five-to-ten miles away, Furlow said.

    Atchison said Drakes has been in the area for a decade and wanted to expand into Indiana.

    Pam Teller, owner of the soon-to-open Nothing Bundt Cakes in Mt. Juliet, was recently gracious to stop her pre-opening maelstrom to spend a few minutes reflecting upon her second Nashville-area bakery.

    She said her inspiration as a Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise owner was the fact she watched her husband fight cancer for two years and, in order to function again, she needed a happy, positive business to bring light to the end of her tunnel and to bring the most moist, delicious Bundt cake on earth to local taste buds.

    Teller is the sole owner of the bakery that will open within weeks in Mt. Juliet once she receives certificates of operation for 3,000 square feet of space at the former Ace Hardware at the corner of North Mt. Juliet and Lebanon roads. She also owns the Hendersonville Nothing Bundt Cakes location.

    Its quite a feat to open Mt. Juliets first Nothing Bundt Cakes, a bakery that started in 1997 with founders Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz, who introduced decadent, slow-melting delicacies of cake to the masses.

    We are just so excited about Mt. Juliet. Its truly a hometown, Teller said.
