VICTORVILLE, Calif. Local residents are excited after learning that Nothing bundt Cakes is preparing to open its first location in the Victor Valley.

The all-new storefront will be located where a Starbucks once called home in the Dunia Plaza along the 14300 block of Bear Valley Road, near Lowes. The Nothing Bundt Cakes sign has already been installed on the exterior of the building.

Nothing bundt Cakes was founded in 1997 by Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz. After baking cakes mostly for family and friends the two women realized there was a gap in the world for delicious cakes that were readily available.

Using real eggs, butter, and cream cheese, the company has now grown nationwide to more than 410 bakeries. According to the companies website, each bakery still has the warmth and nostalgia of its home-kitchen roots but with a modern approach for the world today.

Some of the cakes offered include 8 and 10 bundt cakes, tiered bundt cakes, and bundtlets. Most of the Nothing bundt Cakes locations include a variety of ingredients to choose from and over sixty unique handcrafted cake designs that can be customized for any occasion throughout the year.

New Location Will Be Michigan’s Seventh

The Okemos bakery will be the company’s seventh location in Michigan. It joins more than 400 across the country.

The ownership team picked the location, formerly home to a Payless Shoes store, because they wanted to open a bakery close to East Lansing.

Kinney graduated from Michigan State University and attended Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.

“She knows the area really well and knew it could support our brand, and that people would love our brand here,” Jerry Yurgo said.

Kinney credits MSU with sending her life in the right direction. An entrepreneur, she’s the founder of Metrics Global, a payments and fintech company.

The Okemos store is “like a dream come true,” Kinney said. “Its my way of staying connected to the place I love so much.”

Renovations to the space started in January.

“We completely gutted and rebuilt it,” Jerry Yurgo said.

Ownership plans to hire a total of 25 to 30 employees. At least half of those positions have been filled, but the location is still hiring.

Customers will be able to order cakes online, in person or over the phone. Visit the company website at www.nothingbundtcakes.com .

Nothing Bundt Cakes History

To find the perfect recipe, you first need the perfect ingredients, Nothing Bundt Cakes says in their official website.

This is what its founders, Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz did. In 1997, they tied up with each other, including their kitchens, to create cakes for their friends and family members. The cakes they created were delicious, unlike what people had tasted. As a result, their friends and family requested them to create more.

They realized this simple project of showing love and appreciation to people who matter to them the most, through the cakes has the potential of becoming more. Nothing Bundt Cakes believes there seems to be a gap in the world for the tastiest cakes, readily available, and do not compromise on the ingredients. Whether these are real eggs, butter, or cream cheese, nothing was too good to attain perfection. And perfection is that decadent, slowly melting bite of cake we all know and love, Nothing Bundt Cakes adds.

Flash forward, Nothing Bundt Cakes has become known across the country. Built on the vision of Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz, each bakery keeps the warmth and nostalgia of its home-kitchen roots from the very start, but they never fail to give their creations a modern approach. Whether it is a Bundt Cake or a Bundtinis, their trademark, you are enjoying, one thing is for sure perfection is what customers can expect them to offer.

Bundt cakes refer to cakes that have been baked in a special donut-shaped pan. The pans often have unique patterns within the round shape and can create everything from simple circles to beautiful terraced creations. This type of cake has its origins in Europe, where it was likely inspired by the Gugelhupf cake of Central Europe .

While the Gugelhupf is a yeast-based cake often cooked with raisins, bundt cakes in the United States are not linked to any particular recipe. They rose to popularity in the U.S. in the 1960s and have remained a popular cake for parties and formal gatherings.

Nothing Bundt Cakes was founded in 1997 by Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz, two women who were known among friends for their delicious bundt cakes. They now have locations all over the country and continue to be a fast-growing franchise. Their cakes are known for being flavorful, moist, and delicious. However, not every flavor can be a winner. Before the Yurgos decided to become franchise owners, both their careers put them in a position to meet people “on the worst days of their lives,” he said.

A social worker and firefighter, “we both knew we didn’t want to retire into our golden years, so to speak, living that way,” Jerry Yurgo said. “We wanted at some point to stop that and do something for us.”

Running a bakery was an opportunity to “bring joy” to peoples’ lives, he said.

Kinney, who knew the company’s founders, said the brand stands out.

“It’s so unique and so delicious,” she said.

“This was something that was just a great business,” Jerry Yurgo said. “People were happy there and that’s what we wanted. We’d had enough of the bad days.”

Nothing Bundt Cakes offers bundt cakes in a variety of sizes and flavors, making everything, from the cakes to the frosting, from scratch at each location every day, he said.

For the Gordons, doing so together as a family is the icing on top.

John, his wife Christie and their daughter Erin are the co-owners of the newest branch of Nothing Bundt Cakes in Grand Junction at 2536 Rimrock Ave. Suite 300. The bakery soft-opened to the public Oct. 23 and hosted its official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce on Thursday morning, officially marking its entrance as the newest place for delectables in the dessert.

Weve been working on it for a little over a year, so being able to open our doors was really exciting, Erin said. The brand itself brings so much joy, so being able to bring that joy to our hometown has been a lot of fun. Weve had a pretty good reception so far from people in the valley.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is a renowned bakery that started in 1997. Just Beginning: Nothing Bundt Cakes

There are plenty of bakeries where customers can grab a tasty treat, but few offer a bundt cake so delicious it serves as the backbone of the business. Since 1997, Nothing Bundt Cakes has satisfied cake lovers across the U.S. In 2016, the bakeshop opened its first Canadian franchise in Burlington, Ont.

Founded in the kitchens of best friends Debbie Shwetz and Dena Tripp, Nothing Bundt Cakes has grown rapidly in the U.S., with 225 locations across 36 states. As Debbies relatives, Burlington franchisees T-Jay and Morgen Shwetz were already familiar with the quality of the product.

We sell premium-quality bundt cakes, says Morgen. We use real eggs, real butter and real cream cheese. Theres no other cake like it.

Each location carries nine constant flavours, such as vanilla, red velvet and cinnamon swirl, in addition to a monthly feature flavour. The bundts come in four sizes, ranging from individual bite-sized bundtinis, sold by the dozen, to 10-inch cakes. The chain also offers two-tiered bundt cakes for larger crowds, as well as cellophane-wrapped bundtlet towers.

All cakes can be customized with the addition of handcrafted decorations. When it came time to Canadianize the brand for the Burlington franchise, these decorations provided T-Jay and Morgen with ample creative opportunity.

Watching customers taste the product for the first time is the best part of the job.
