Restaurant Notes: Nothing Bundt Cakes Plans Mandarin Store

Four years after opening its first Nothing Bundt Cakes at Beach and Hodges boulevards in Southside, franchisee Cake 4 Partners Inc. intends to open its second location in Mandarin.

Charles Waters, president of Cake 4 Partners, said he anticipates opening a Nothing Bundt Cakes in April in the Merchants Walk shopping center at 9925 San Jose Blvd.

Mandarin is a fantastic area and our product is a good fit, he said.

Waters is looking at St. Johns County for a third location.

Another franchisee operates a store in Orange Park, he said.

The city is reviewing a permit application for a $137,000 build-out of a 2,700-square-foot Nothing Bundt Cake store in Merchants Walk, a shopping center owned by Hakimian Holdings.

Coastal Contracting of North Florida Inc. is listed as the contractor. Greg Landry Architect of Richardson, Texas, is the architect.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is based in Addison, Texas, and franchises more than 260 bakeries across the country.

The bakeries offer Bundt cakes from bite-size to 10-inch sizes in a choice of flavors and designs.

When this location opened a few years ago, I thought theyd never stay in business selling nothing but cakes, boy was I wrong. Each time Ive visited there are always customers, its a hopping place. Since then my family has tried several different flavors, all were delicious. The store is impeccably clean and the workers are the friendliest Ive encountered. If you havent tried them, you dont know what youre missing.

We visited this location for the first time on Saturday around 2:15. The nicest young man helped us. He was very friendly as he explained all of our choices. He took his time to make sure that we understood the choices, the combinations, & the prices. The cakes are beyond delicious! We will definitely go again.

First of all I love their cakes, they are amazing, beautiful and so tasteful. Their customer service is on point. I had a birthday cake I ordered for this Wednesday but found out my mom had an emergency with her sister so I needed to pick it up today and sure enough they got it done for me which I am forever grateful. Also, I pick up my birthday cake next week from them. When you go here you will not be disappointed. God bless!

Bought a few mini cakes. It was busy BUT not loud. I couldnt see what she was putting the bag. I figured everything was good. Drive 2 hours only to find out I got a red velvet instead of white chocolate raspberry. Come on!!! Red velvet was not good at all. 🙁

Ordered a cake and on their online portal it allowed me to select a ribbon and a flower. When I got to the store only the ribbon was there and the clerk told me that I had not selected a flower because it said $0 for the flower. I questioned this response since the ribbon also said $0 yet they added it but she said it was just the way it displayed and I had to pay $1 to add the flower. My point here is that a boutique baker as this should not have sat there to argue with me but instead add the flower as I was paying premium price for their product and the flower was going to cost them less than $1. Where is customer service? I wont be returning as I did not feel valued as a customer not will I recommend it. Sadly, this bakery has lost my business.

Ask for suggestions flavors, and they said white chocolate raspberry is the best, so I ordered. Came out way too sweet, very2 sweet!! Cant get my third bites.

Cakes dressed in a sweet cream cheese frosting will soon spark joy for Gainesville residents Nothing Bundt Cakes is expanding its reach in north-central Florida.

Amber and Derrick Robinson, the owners of the new Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise, will open a store in Butler Esplanade, located at 3228 SW 35th Blvd., in February 2022.

Every time I hear someone talk about how much they love the cakes, I get energized and I get even more excited, Amber said.

The idea to apply for a store sprouted from their love for entrepreneurship, Amber said. From 2015 to 2021, the couple owned Florida Fun Bikes, a local nighttime store that rented out party bikes to Gainesville residents.

But after having two kids, the couple decided to sell the franchise and prioritize their children. They still wanted to own a franchise but wanted more family-friendly hours. Nothing Bundt Cakes offered them flexibility.

It just became more of a burden, Amber said. We never wanted to let our customers down.

The news was no surprise for Ambers relatives.

During her years at Arizona State University, Amber said she received a Nothing Bundt Cake pastry as a gift and immediately fell in love with the store. She gave Derrick a red velvet bundt cake for his birthday. And it was the best hed ever had.

Prior to the good news of a new location, Gainesville residents had to drive more than 50 miles away to the closest Nothing Bundt Cakes store in Jacksonville.
