A bundt cake franchise is coming to Midland in mid-August, bringing yet another specialty food craze business to the Tall City.
Nothing Bundt Cakes, which originated in Las Vegas is moving to Midland after three years of work by local franchise owner Debra Holt. The storefront, located in the Imperial Shopping Center at the corner of Wadley Avenue and Midkiff Road, is set to have its soft opening in mid-August.
They were a little skeptical about it because they werent sure that we had the volumes to support that franchise, Holt said. Just like with all the big franchises, Midland/Odessa sometimes misses out on some bigger franchises because theyre afraid that we just don’t have the volume.
Holt has worked as a paralegal, a school teacher, and most recently as a pharmaceutical sales representative. She said that she would bring her clients cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes in Lubbock and that eventually she thought, why not bring the whole store which offers 10 flavors and four different sizes.
I was determined. … As I told them, they didnt know what they were missing out on, she said of the time she spent convincing the corporate office. I felt 100 percent positive this franchise would be very well- received in the community and that there was a real need for it.
I have had the good fortune of people literally coming out of the woodworks, she said.
