Nothing Bundt Cakes to hand out free cakes

Owner Kim Wright talks cakes, community, and core values.

Its not just about cakes for us, its about something more.

Kim Wright is as bright and warm as her bakery in Wynnewood. Since opening just a few years ago, the busy boy mom has been overwhelmed by the connections and support that have sustained and grown Nothing Bundt Cakes in good times and bad. These days, people are connecting differently and celebrating on a smaller scale, yet her bakeries have been able to remain within those special moments. The best part about what I do and the growth that Ive had is that Im able to reach the community. Im a giver by nature. Doing it as an individual is great, but being able to impact the communities that Im in has been so unbelievable, she tells us.

Based on the homey, personalized feel of the bakery, we were surprised to learn that Nothing Bundt Cakes Ardmore/Wynnewood was a franchise, originally based in Texas where Wright is from. When deciding to open her own shop, she was drawn not only to the delicious cakes she had loved back home but the companys core values which aligned so strongly with her own. The importance of relationships and community-building were essential to Wrights business and success.

Since then, she has expanded to two additional locations: Springfield and, most recently, King of Prussia/Wayne. The recent acquisition of this location at the Gateway Shopping Center has been such an exciting way to kick off 2021:

About Nothing Bundt Cakes

To find the perfect recipe, you first need the perfect ingredients. And that’s what our founders Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz were for each other. In 1997, they joined forces, or better yet kitchens, to help make cakes to entertain their friends. The cakes they made were delicious, unlike anything anyone had tasted. As a result, their friends and family asked them to entertain more and more. They quickly realized this side project of theirs could be something more. There was a gap in the world for delicious cakes, readily available, that didn’t compromise on their ingredients. Fresh eggs, real butter, and real cream cheese nothing was too good to achieve perfection. And perfection are those decadent, slowly melting bites, we all know and love. Flash forward and the Nothing Bundt Cakes brand has grown nationwide. Built on Dena and Debbie’s vision, each bakery still has the warmth and nostalgia of its home-kitchen roots, but they also take a modern approach for the world today.

Nothing Bundt Cakes Opens In Wynnewood

On July 11, Kim and Will Wrights Nothing Bundt Cakes opened in Wynnewood. A captivatingly modern take on the circular European-style dessert, the bakery offers carry out options, plus a gift shop. Daintily painted in cheery canary yellow, sky blue and cocoa brown colors, the shop offers a delectable assortment of Bundt cakes in varying sizes and flavors.

Nothing Bundt Cakes began in Las Vegas, Nev. in 1997 and has spread throughout the country. This marks its first foray into the Main Line area.

Before stepping into the Lancaster Avenue outpost, banish any preconceived notions of bland 1960s-era. There, the Wrights scrumptiously reinventing the dessert by creating nine fun and festive varieties, which come in several sizes: Bundtini, a bite sized cake available by the dozen Bundtlet, which is a mini Bundt cake that can easily feed two plus 8- and 10-inch cakes, along with tiered ones that can serve 26 people.

Flavors include chocolate-chocolate chip, red velvet, lemon, white chocolate raspberry, pecan praline, and classic vanilla. Gluten-free options are also available. Cakes are baked fresh daily and even the icing is made in-house. With its positivity-inducing color scheme, a cheerful staff that doles out free samples, and a bevy of frosted cakes looking as delectable as they taste, the Wrights are ensuring Main Liners can have their cake and eat it, too.
