On Thursday, Sept. 1, Nothing Bundt Cakes in Lake Charles is giving away free Confetti Bundtlets to the first 250 guests at its 4740 Nelson Road location to celebrate its 25th birthday.
Its part of a national celebration where bakeries from coast to coast will give out more than 100,000 cakes.
Guests at each bakery will receive a free Confetti Bundtlet, the brands individually packaged miniature Bundt Cakes.

Why? Why would you not have forks? We went in today and ordered 4 mini bundts. We had just eaten lunch somewhere else and wanted dessert. We went to the Bundt place. Ordered our little bundts and when we got in the truckno forks. Isent my daughter back in and they told her since they werent considered a sit down eating place they didnt have to have forks. We live 1 hour away from Lake Charles, we were planning on eating our cakes on the drive home. I couldnt believe that the answer was so dumb. I mean, regardless of whether you have to provide forks, you serve small cakes, and why wouldnt people need forks?? Its a good thing there was a pizza place next door so my daughter ran in there and got us some forks. This speaks to their customer service. I wont go there again. there should not be a world where anyone who owns a dessert place, that offers small desserts on the go, wouldnt have a fork.More

There just wasnt anything like it here, so thats why I decided to bring it to St. Louis, Jannette Neely, owner of Nothing Bundt Cakes, said. Everyone has a bundt story. All day long while Im working in the bakery, Ill hear customers stories about how their grandmother used to make bundt cakes, or how their mom made bundt cakes.
Sweet nostalgia and a passion for baking were the main ingredients for Neely to open the first Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise in the St. Louis area. It was a decision she made after discovering the unique business concept in Texas.
Neely opened the first franchise in St. Louis in April 2015 in the Lamp & Lantern Village shopping center in Town & Country to give residents a taste of the treats. By 2019, the newest location in St. Peters at the 94 Crossing Shopping Center opened its doors.
Neely said the response since opening has been overwhelming.

Democrats Set Up Votes On Gun Legislation As Senate Negotiates

House Democrats plan to press forward on voting, starting Wednesday, on a series of gun control proposals, most of which appear to have slim chance to become law amid Republican opposition in the evenly divided Senate.
In the wake of a recent wave of mass shootings at a Texas elementary school and across the country, Democrats have largely united on gun violence prevention measures that would raise the age to purchase certain firearms, or back red flag laws for emergency gun seizures and other proposals.
If the House passes the bills, they would head to the Senate and await action along with two measures the House passed last year to expand criminal background checks prior to gun purchases.
As Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz put it at a gun victims event Tuesday on the National Mall, the action would be taken to put pressure on the United States Senate to at least do something.
But Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, a key Republican in bipartisan negotiations for gun proposals that could make it through the Senate, quashed some of those hopes Monday night when he signaled that Republicans would not accept many of the proposals.
What Im interested in is keeping guns out of the hands of those who, by current law, are not supposed to have them, Cornyn said.
